View Full Version : Forum Messing Up?

I think I saw a thread about something similar this past weekend but it didn't seem to have any answers so here's to see if anyone is having a similar problem as I've had in the past few minutes.

Basically, I open an email alert and go to the link and all I see is the "currently active users viewing this thread" but there's no thread there. If I try to go to the control panel, it's a blank screen. I've tried all the usual suspects (clear cache, etc) but the weird thing is that both IE and Firefox are having the same problem so it's not as if I've accidentally adblock'd something for Firefox. Opera's working fine but I have a ton of stuff turned off in it (like Javascript) so that's probably why.

Anyone else experiencing this or know what's wrong? I figure it will probably pass as it did a few days ago, but I'm curious to fix it, if possible.

And just so I don't seem totally insane, some artwork to go with the problem.

I've been having similar problems lately. Getting the latest HOSTS files temporarily (or randomly) solved the problem.

I wonder if the default post display has again changed. Cause it might explain why you are showing no threads. Check in your control panel.

Nequa is also having issues, all he gets is the add at the top of the forum

Do the people who are having issues have any doubleclick.net entries in their HOSTS file?

I believe it's possible some companies are trying to get around ad-blocking by moving key pieces of content to the advertiser's servers.

Yes, but I removed them as a test. The thing about that is- it doesn't make sense why IE would be having a problem, too. Adblock is Firefox only.

I've been having problems loading up the board. The ad up top comes up but nothing else, it stalls during the load process. I finally got in and changed my setup to the "Yellow" option since most people say that has the least problems.

Things seem to be working again, at least momentarily.

I was wondering about the skin, too. I use the forum default (VBulletin) since it's the cleanest one, in my mind. Another set of data points to compare, I suppose.

That is the one I used too, but it keeps on having stalling problems when loading.

I use the vbulletin skin and have no problems. I also do not see any ads at the top.

I have noticed that when the top ad is the one with Circuit City, nothing else loads.

Yeah, see I have a fundamental problem with that one along the lines that it's ugly as sin ;)

Maybe next time things foul up, I'll try the MacOS one or something.

You know, kindof like the color orange is ugly, too. Especially when paired with blue *runs* :p :D

Yellow is great. I've been using it...well, for years. I can't imagine using anything different.

I did get that 'only the ad shows up' around Friday/Saturday but haven't since then.

I use the vbulletin skin as it is the easiest on the eyes.

Because you have show threads within the last day.
