You guys probably saw this on eBaums already:

http://www.ebaumsworld.com/mindprobe.html

In any case, it's always worked for me on every time. Anyone out there know why/how? Is it mathematical, perhaps? A pattern, maybe? http://dynamic.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

EDIT:

On a side note, I've done the math in my head as opposed to using the calculator, kept the mouse within the white area, etc...etc...

Still, this seems to work. It's freaking me out, really. I'm sure it's probably some simple equation or whatever, or something about probabilities or what not, but I simply can't figure it out.

Because no matter what two digit number you pick, your end result is going to be either 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72 or 81. Those numbers always have the same symbol next to it...and that's the one that's going to be displayed.

Edit - It's those numbers because the 2nd digit always gets negated by the subtraction...that leaves the (first digit * 10) - first digit...and that will always be divisible by 9.

It will always be the same answer everytime(set of numbers, only a select few possible)...they all have the same symbol, but the game changes that symbol each time to make you think its different...if im not mistaken

I didn't see any symbols or anything in the box, so the effect was kind of lost on me.

Posted after midnight, and completely exposed in seven minutes. Nice work.

Most excellent! Thanks!
