I've got a $100 gift certificate card, applicable to some Westfield places here in town, and was considering using it to pick this game up. I've got the first one for the Xbox, and I thoroughly enjoyed it -- actually, I think it was the first Xbox game that I actually played until I finished it.

Most of my other games on the Xbox have been played for awhile, but never really 'completed' (a la Shenmue, Fable). Has anyone managed to snag hold of a copy? Are the new additions/changes (aside from the online multiplayer) really that significant? I wish the first one lasted a little bit longer than it did, and from some impressions on other sites, it seems that this one is probably around the same length/time.

More than likely, I probably will get it...though I'm trying to wonder if it'll warrant the use of my gift certificate, or if I probably should wait for this sucker to come down in price by $10 or so down the line. I'm not quite so sure how many characters you can play as this time around, and I'm hoping it'll be a bit more so than the original.

I have it. It is very much like XML. It is cool being able to play with the bad guys, Magneto, Juggernaut, Toad, etc.

They added a lot more skills to all of the characters. For the returning cast, they made some changes to them, made some of them better. The Apocalypse story line is interesting. You start the game with 15 playable characters. You don't find more characters during the quest. There are unlockable characters once you meet certain criteria.

If you liked the first one, you should like this one. The games are pretty much the same with different stories and characters.

Sweet deal.

Can you elaborate more on how the skills have been adjusted? I read somewhere, that they separated into two groups -- your physical strength, focus, etc... from your skills. I suppose that's meant so that when you level up, you've got 2 different kind of points to distribute? Ugh. My memory's really horrible on this one.

They've added a lot more skills to each character. Instead of having 4 different skills, each has about 10-12. You can also level up to level 99. It doesn't stop at 45 this time.

This game is totally like Diablo 2. You can use the extraction points to teleport around, and if you put certain groups together, you get attack bonuses. The equipment you can pick up is alot more advanced than just the basic stuff they have in XML1. There are now modifiers like added radiation or bleed damage. Figuring out what to do for some of these boss battles is tough.

My roommate was addicted to X-men comics growing up, and he's played this game for probably 12 hours in the two days since I picked it up, and keeps talking about how "accurate to the comic" things are, so that's another bonus if you're a big X-men fan.
And yes, Diablo II is exactly what I thought after an hour or so.

I picked this up 2 days ago, and have been playing it when I can since. It is much more fun than XML1 (which I also liked.)
