Don't know why but I got in the mood this weekend to watch the few baseball movies I have: Field of Dreams, 8 Men Out and Natural. Plus a new one that I just picked up and had been wanting to watch for a long time: 61*. I still love the three favorites but I was amazed at how good 61* was for being a non-theatrical movie. It's definitely up there with Field of Dream as my two favorites. I am still trying to find some of the old classics, some I hadn't seen in decades.
If we can avoid mentioning Bull Durham :p , what are your favorite baseball movies?

The Natural would have to be my favorite, with Field of Dreams, Bull Durham (you knew it was going to be mentioned), and Major League rounding out the quartet.

A Baseball movie I am proud to say; Major League, sequal #3 not included.
A Baseball movie that has a unique feel to it; Talent for the Game.
A Baseball movie for the Greg Maddux fan in me; For Love of the Game.
A Baseball movie that I am ashamed I like; The Sluggers Wife

My top 3 in no particular order:
1) The Sandlot - A great movie in general. It's a real shame I had the displeasure of watching the awful sequel this summer.
2)Little Big League - Although it did have implausible situation of having a 12-year-old coach a baseball team, I thought it was pretty funny. Also, I think it might be the best baseball movie I've ever seen in making the baseball look and baseball talk sound realistic.
3)Major League - Just a funny movie.

Long Gone. I can watch this movie start to finish every time it pops up on cable.

Wow, I didn't realize until just now how many quality baseball movies there are out there. My top 5:
1.The Sandlot-I'll always have a softspot in my heart for this one. I'll be watching this 40 years from now when I'm 60, wishing I was a kid again.
2.Major League-Like WrongWay said, Major League:Back To The Minors not indicative.
3.Field Of Dreams
4.The Scout (just kidding)
5.Rookie Of The Year-Just because of UIC that an adolescent boy could make the Cubs roster.
