So..I saw Maximus' high blood pressure thread and I thought we'd have fun posting our cholesterol levels - or at least the highest we have ever been.

Drum roll, please....due to a combination of diabetes, genetics and a prescription I was on, my highest was...420.

Can anyone beat that?!

Hmm. I don't know much about cholesterol. In fact nothing at all. I had 220 for one of the numbers, which I told was way to high for a 22 year old. I'm assuming 420 is two numbers added up? I haven't done anything to resolve it, so I'm probably going to have a heart attack at 28.

Forgive my ignorance.

I don't know what my cholesterol is, but I do now that when I was at my largest (330 lbs), my cholesterol was remarkably low for the weight I was at.

I had to ask for one at my last exam. They had a separate blood lab where they could test you for all kinds of stuff (I tested for cholesterol and glucose). It was all covered by my insurance with one total copay, but I'm guessing that varies by insurance company.

By the way, here were my results:
Total = 210 (a little high)
Blanked Triglyc = 80 (solid ... normal is <150)
HDL = 47 (OK, bad is <40, but good is >60)
LDL = 147 (borderline high)
Non-HDL = 163 (a little high ... you'd like to see more HDL and less non-HDL)

None of this is all that surprising to me. I have a family history of cholesterol and blood pressure problems, and I eat a lot of red meat and fatty foods. I didn't have my cholesterol checked when I was at or near my max weight (which was about 220). Now, I'm consistently in the 190-195 range, after switching to diet soda and trying to reduce some of my worst dietary habits (such as a lot of french fries). I could still stand to lose a few more pounds (I'm about 6' tall and 30 years old), but I'm much better off than I was a couple of years ago. I don't have a regular exercise program, other than the two walks/day we take our dogs on. I just gotta get off my butt a little more. Working in a cubicle (then coming on here at night with all of you jokers) certainly doesn't help.

420 Craigsca? Really? Dude, you should get checked out. I am at 221 (boarderline high says my doc) and he has me on tricor. 420 is very bad.

The 420 was awhile ago - during my "Diabetes? You have got to be kidding me" phase. Apparently when your glucose is out of whack your cholesterol will be too. I'm not in the normal range yet, but I'm nowhere near 420 now. My blood was like syrup at the time.

I did some work a few years ago where I was reviewing medical records. There was one patient that had a cholesterol level so high that the doctor wrote that his blood was like "cottage cheese".

My highest cholesterol reading ever has been a 136

I'm at the other extreme. My cholesterol reading is way low, and I never have enough HDL. I continue to take Fish Oil supplements and exercise regularly, but I never have enough HDL in my system.

I have high blood pressure (runs in the family), but my cholesterol is towards the lower end of normal, not sure of the exact number. Even when I used to weigh 240 and eat fast foods almost every day, it was pretty low.
