Have you read Super System or some of the other expensive poker books and found it to be completely worthless when you sit down with your buddies Sunday night then take a look at this.

Well the problem for this admittedly entertaining bit is that the book is called Poker for Advanced Players and assumes you are playing other Advanced Players. Having read Low Limit Hold Em, which Sklansky has his name on but most people give credit to Ed Miller for having written, the advice is very different.

Lesson here: Read the introduction.
Right there on the first page of the Introduction to the book, it says "Keep in mind that the following strategies are designed for medium limit games, that is $10-$20 hold 'em up to (and including) $40-$80 hold 'em. In smaller games, or games that feature people who play too many hands and go too far with their hands, many of the sophisticated plays used to manipulate standard opponents into making errors do not work."

Phil Hellmuth's book is the nuts. Everyone should be using that as their poker bible.

Even for limit because I've heard of numerous stories suggesting Phil's limit play leaves a lot to be desired.

For everything. Throw away all of your other books. Even use it for stuff like Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh!
