I'm doing an all-out Empty Cupboard career, and decided to really, really go for it. In Year 8, with a $122.2M cap, I have four players costing $14.5M or more in cap room, but decided to keep my team together. There are only 49 guys on the roster. A few questions:
1. Is there a time in the offseason where I can make trades even though I'm over the cap? (As in trading my stud #2 QB for a cheaper starter at another position.) I seem to recall someone saying that there was an exception to the comment in the manual that you're unable to make trades if you're over the cap.
2. What happens if I get so many guys injuured that I can't fill out my depth charts? Will the game not allow me to continue without cutting all my stars midsason? (Actually that sounds like it might be kind of cool. Serves me right for getting $49M over a $122.M cap. :p)
3. Are there any other things I need to be aware of in the next few seasons? I know I need to trade away all draft picks so I don't just lose them, but anything else? (I'm assuming that being unable to sign new players means that I can't sign new draft picks, either...)
Thanks in advance.
