This is almost the last movie I would ever expect to see turned into a video game. Not only is it around 30yrs old, but it is as bad as you can get.

Actually I try to catch this movie every time it is on, so I know I will be watching SpikeTv's kickoff tonight at 9PM for this movie and clips of the video game.

I wonder who it was that pulled this idea of taking a 30yr old cult film and turning it into a major video game? Genius, probably bought the rights to the movie for $10.00 and a pack of Luckys.

I could have sworn it was being remade.

And it is most certainly NOT "as bad as you can get". Unless by bad, you mean good.

The new edition is sweet. It looks brand new, as in, just recently filmed.

Riffs leader: You Warriors are good. Real good.
Swan: The best.

I think that was already a game back in the 80's.

it was!

The new director's cut of the Warriors is sweet tho!

It's being re-made by Tony Scott. It promises to be pretty awful. I loved "The Warriros" when I was a kid. I think the whole 70's vibe of the movie is one of its charms and I just don't know how they would pull it off today, especially with Tony Scott directing. He has done some good stuff in the past, but he's gone a bit overboard the last few years.

I haven't played the game, but i think in theory it could be a very, very cool video game. It was probably a better video game than movie idea back then. The movie does rock in it's own right though. I love the mime gang.

Any idea on what Spike TV will be showing?

The only time I run across The Warriors is around 3AM in the morning, so I have probably not seen the directors cut.

Also, apparently the re-make will be set in Los Angeles. That's just retarded. That's like re-making "Boyz in the Hood" and setting it in Harlem or the Bronx. New York was a big part of that movie.

No, you must have this confused with Escape from New York.

It was just released this past Tuesday, from what I gather no real additional footage, just a new means of scene cuts...I liked.

Huh? "Escape From LA" was a (crap) sequel to "Escape From New York", not a re-make. The re-make of "The Warriors" is due out in 2006 and is rumored to be set in LA. I am not confused.

..and its written by Walter Hill, the original director. That guy has done a ton of stuff since The Warriors, he appears to be the main man behind Tales from the Crypt and he directed Brewsters Millions & 48 Hours

I heard they added a bunch of comic book footage to cut between scenes. Yuck, seems like that would destroy the whole feel of the original.

The original was awesome FWIW.

they're still there. Only this time, the Baseball Furies will be Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim fans.

I love that flick...it actually had surprise modest success at the box office and Joe Walsh's "In the City" is a fantastic tune from the soundtrack. I actually saw it in the theatre when it was originally released.

I'm paraphrasing here...I think:

"why'd you do it, why did you kill cyrus?"
"I don't know, I just like doing things like that"

I had no idea this was already released until I was out the other day picking up Blitz: The League.

I of course had to get it as well, and the Director's Cut of the film. I haven't got a chance to play the game yet, but it's getting really good reviews.

Can you dig it? CAN YOU DIG IT?

I really don't like the comic book style transitions in the new version, seems a bit overboard.

I haven't read the gamespy review yet, but the reviews I read said that it was pretty good. The best thing I heard was that it has a very in-depth combat system and a kickass multiplayer vs. mode that will allow have you beating up your friends for hours on end.

Ok after getting a few hours into it I can say I'm really liking it. The combat is pretty simple but yet still makes you feel like a badass doing it. It's not just straight beating the hell out of guys either, there's the standard GTA-style variety in mission, and the characters all come across with their different personalities and you're interested in seeing more of the story. There's a variety though, I've done your required stealthy type mission, some spray painting missions, stealing stereos from cars, breaking into stores.

Looks like I'm at a point now where you can continue on in the story missions or just wander around Coney Island stealing stereos, mugging people, and breaking into joints to build up some cash. Yeah, it's another typical Rockstar game and not for the children. :)

Did I mention I at one point stole some dude's boombox and carried it around rocking out for quite some time? That was my highlight.

IGN's review of the XBox version... 8.7 overall seems to be that the only real negative is the graphics which imo is the second least important factor for me (besides sound)

Higher review scores than I expected (I figured a 7-7.5). Gamespot gave it an 8.6. Wow. Definitely gonna rent this one!!!

It's definitely not a game for those looking for great graphics, that's for sure..it's very GTA-like, think it used the same engine, but not 100% sure.

It is however getting better and better as I play. The Rumble Mode is a blast, you get to pick and choose members from the various gangs to form your ultimate team, and you unlock more the further you get into the story. There's 300+ guys total and I've unlocked 30 or so. It's good times though, especially head to head with someone else.

Running across some cool flashback missions, which are optional, but you get to see backstory on the members, like how the gang formed and the story behind members joining up. I just did a riot mission which was very fun, you usually have a couple other Warriors with you, and you can give them basic commands, like follow you, stay, wreck those dudes, mayhem(for rioting), and scatter to get away from the law when it comes down on you. So it's not all on you, you have backup.

I highly recommend the game for any fans of the movies, or of the GTA games, or just ass kicking beat 'em ups ala Streets of Rage.

Camera is a bit annoying sometime, but manageable. I'm loving it though.
