I have absolutely no connection with these guys and don't know the level of service they provide, but you gotta agree that $39.95 shipping included is a pretty good deal to get FM2006.
I know I said I'd probably wait to order WWSM2006 but I'm very tempted to go ahead and preorder FM2006.
I payed £24.95 plus £4.95 shipping from gameplay.co.uk last year, that comes to $52.56 (that is american dollars). This year I figured I could find WWSM at about 35-36 american dollars but most sites are a bit in the fog as far as when they'll have it since SI has not announced a release date for WWSM (for example, CD Universe has it listed but it looks tentative since they list a November 1st release date and nothing's been announced by SI)...
Anyway, thought I'd pass the info along...
Still pondering whether I go for it or not, my birthday is coming in two weeks, but I've already ordered a a black gi... :)
I have already talked to the wife about it being my one big entertainment expense and her sole response was "that's the game you play every evening, right?" and my reply was "yep, but I'm home during that time honey" ;) She knows it's a worthy investment for me though ;)

edit: changed link and corrected text and title to reflect a $2 off when going through a coupon monkey affiliate linkage.
edit2: seems the $2 off coupon isn't working anymore so it's back to $39.95, shipping included. For the record, I have ordered with them and will update you when they ship it.

Typically not. They have "cheap shipping" which often takes quite awhile (ask Jeeber), or FedEx for more.
Anyone order from these folks?

interesting, they have it on cd-wow.com (http://www6.cd-wow.com/detail_results_3.php?product_code=20916&subcat=pc) at £26.99, again free shipping worldwide.
According to the Yahoo! currency converter (http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=26.99&from=GBP&to=USD), £26.99 is about $47.38, this would mean the US site has either an error or they're selling it on the cheap side :)

basic shipping from gameplay.co.uk last year took 12 calendar days, and it was £4.99, so free at 7-10 days, even if working days, so 12-14 calendar days, would work for me...

An FYI, the site is owned by a guy in Hong Kong. Now obviously that doesn't mean the game is pirated, just keep in mind the piracy problems SI have had in that area of the world. Found some reviews, they were all pretty much positive about the site though (or at least the .com version.)

Oh, keep visiting around here, there'll be plenty of opinions, mine included :)
One quick question: can your player still get injured in training on gameday or the day after a match even though you have told them not to practice on said days? I'll admit I don't know if the "don't practice on gameday" checkbox still exist in FM2006, but I got it ticked in 2005 and I regularly get injuries on gameday, same goes with injuries the day after a match, where I tell my players not to train, then every once in a while, boom! If you need a precise example, let me know, there are a couple buried in my dynasty.

Preorder right now from gameplay.co.uk and pay for the extra fast shipping (or whatever they call it). You could have it as soon as very early next week, if I remember their shipping time correctly.

Whenever I read someone's dynasty about the game they are always a team in the EPL or atleast in the English FA. Is that the only nation you have access to? I know you can transfer players from other nations but could you actually use a team from another nation. I'm asking because I'd love to play a game where I could play in the Portuguese SuperLiga

You can play just about anywhere on the planet, seriously. After my first run with Q.P.R. ended in a corrupted savegame file, I tried a couple times to start a new career in Spain but never could get into it. I came back to England and it clicked and I got into what my dynasty is now. I'm comfortable in England.
Portugal is indeed in the available leagues. You can also set many leagues as "active" in your football world, meaning you could go manage there at one point in your career. From memory, I think I got England (from League One and up) and the top leagues in Scotland, Italy, France, Spain, Holland, Germany. That seems about right...

yeah Kevin, you can play as any team in any of like...what's the league count up to these days?? Basically anything in Europe (including Portugal of course)...all the way down to like the Romanian second division, and like seemingly a jillion leagues all over the world. Not sure why everybody gravitates to the EPL for their dynasties (not a big EPL fan here at all). So basically yes you can play as a whole ton of other leagues...SI's website should have a complete list around their somewhere, or at least a list of how many.

it's all in there (well not the "convince the wife" part ;)) MLS and National Teams included. There have been problems with the MLS not being right but I can't help you with it as I never play the MLS. A guy like SirFozzie could probably tell you more about it.
I know Tim (finkenst/finketr) is managing the National Team of Brazil and EaglesFan27 was the manager of another nation (maybe England?). You can go as only National Team manager, or do double duty if you want...

when a national team manager spot opens up, the media pundits will sometimes speculate as to who could become the new manager, your name could come up then, but I also think you can be asked to become the manager. Of course, you can also apply for the job whenever it becomes open. The Canadian National Team spot became open at one point in my earlier Q.P.R. career but I didn't feel ready to manage two squads so I never applied. Would it become open now, I'd probably apply for it...

Re: Everyone playing in England.
We get a LOT of EPL and FA Cup games on Fox Soccer Channel. it's what people are familiar with and all the 'names' are typically there. ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool amongst the big clubs. Rooney, Kezman, Lampard, Arsene Wenger, Downing, Gerrard, etc are all in EPL clubs.
Nice. Can you be invited into the national manager slot? To be honest I'd hate to just be the manager of the national team but I think it would be cool to manage a squad and then be asked by the AI to manage the squad
To answer this better:
I got this email from the AI 3 seasons ago:
http://www.moosh.net/%7Etimothy/fm2005/portugal.jpg
I asked EF27 in his ManU/England dynasty about it but i expressed migivings at the time, though it was VERY cool to get the offer...
I turned it down...
and then ....
http://www.moosh.net/%7Etimothy/fm2005/brazil.jpg
so, i am manager of chelsea and the manager of the very injured brazillian national team in february 2010... I've got ~6 players injured longterm on the national squad.
This is in WWSM2005 (the US version of fm2005) damn you, Marc Vaughan and Frogman.

WWSM got interesting when I got fired from FC Dallas three quarters into my second season with the team. I'm now managing an Italian Serie B team. Fun with my team being on the 'mature' side. Different than MLS which leans to youth.

That's an idea that's not completely stupid. One question for you: had you credit card been already charged? and if so, have you seen the refund on it already?
That's the first thing that bothered me about them, they charged my card the day I sent in my order, instead of waiting on the day of delivery...

FM,
My credit card was already charged, and when I cancelled my order, they send a cancellation and a refund e-mail with a confirmation number.
It usually takes 2 business days for my credit card to show any changes, so I haven't seen the refund yet.

on a funny note, you know what day November 1st is, other than being the day after Halloween? It's my birthday. :D Guess what I'll be downloading/ordering on November 1st ;)

ditto for me. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get here.
BTW, I plan on blaming FrogMan if it takes longer than a few days...;)

FMIt's all Frogger's fault! :D
I'd reckon about 10 days to 2 weeks. I wanted to give them until today before cancelling and it's been sent so no big deal.
When I ordered my '01/'02, it was set to mail right after 09/11 and was stuck in Custom for 2-3 weeks. This . . . this is nothing.

The email I got from them said 5-7 days, but that could be just their "standard" email for everyone, no matter where you are.
In any case, I'm not in a rush to get the game but it's still fun to blame FrogMan. :D

yeah, yeah, yeah... :p
Maybe I should change the title to "BLEH! as in CD-BLEH.us, won't ship on time, but still only $39.95!!!" :D
Bee, I think the 5-7 days is for people in the UK but I could be wrong...

You're probably right, but here's what the email said:
---------
Just to let you know that
Game Product Football Manager 2006 (CD-ROM) has been dispatched.
Please allow 5 to 7 days for the goods to arrive.
If after this time, you are still waiting for your item, please let us know.
This completes your order.
----------
I'll probably give it a couple weeks and if I haven't gotten anything, I'll send them an email. Like I said, I'm not in a rush or anything. I'm really busy with other stuff right now and wouldn't have time to play anyway.

ahh, it's pretty clear on there. My email was the "your shpiment has been delayed" one and I'm pretty sure they were making mention of UK...
Good luck with it!

Hi Guys.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but this may be some good (great?) news for you lot :)
http://community.sigames.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/521102691/m/3212033861
For those who can't access it, it basically says:
"Worldwide Soccer Manager 2006 has been confirmed for a ship date (bar any manufacturing problems) of November 1st, 2005.
There will be boxed copies of the game available in North America and Canada from this date. Details of retailers will follow at a later date.
We will also be releasing a digital download version of Worldwide Soccer Manager on the same date. This will be a "try before you buy" version of the game (so a 6 month demo, and if you like it, you can then "unlock" the rest of the game) and will be available for customers throughout the American continents, so, for the first time, the game will be available for those in Central and South American countries.
We are still finalising the details with Sega of America's online distribution partner to see if any of the countries in these continents will not be able to purchase, but at the moment it is looking like we'll be able to sell to customers in all countries in both continents.
This is a big test for the game, and we are hoping to turn a lot more people enjoying our game in these countries into legitimate purchasers to test the market for the future. With your support, we might even manage to get boxed copy releases in these countries too.
Oh, and the price of the download (and the boxed copy in the US & Canada) will be under $30.
Thank you all for your patience whilst waiting for this announcement, but there's been a lot to sort out!"
Cheers
Fran

I would download the game, but I am afraid that my dialup wouldn't be able to handle the potential 300+MB download.
I pre-ordered it from my local Gamestop store today. It was $29.99, and he said that thier store wasn't going to get the game but that they could get the game in from anywhere if I pre ordered it. I am guessing that I should get the game sometime in Novemeber. Hopefully, sometime next week.

cd-wow for $39.95 because I thought I'd be getting it ahead of the US release then. *sigh* I don't think it's even hit my house yet and it's day 6. On top of that, it's being sent priority from there to here in Laramie, which is another 3 days.
