TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calvin Pace is out for the season after cutting his arm while falling through a window at his home during the weekend.
The accident occurred at Pace's condominium in Atlanta on Saturday night. The Cardinals had a bye last week and players had Saturday and Sunday off. Pace underwent surgery at an Atlanta Hospital.
``As they say, a lot of accidents happen around the house so you have to be careful,'' coach Dennis Green said. ``He just kind of slipped and went to brace himself and went through the window.''
Pace was one of two first-round draft picks for Arizona in 2003, the 18th selection overall. He started all 16 games as a rookie, but was replaced when Green took over as coach in 2004.
This season, Pace played when the Cardinals used a five-down lineman set, and was the first backup to starters Bertrand Berry and Chike Okeafor.
Pace had eight tackles, three assists and one sack this season.
