The Curse of SackAttack struck tonight. I have this really, really nasty habit of inadvertently calling stuff that's going to happen in a sporting event right before it actually does.
I did it in the ALCS last year, telling SirFozzie that the Red Sox were going to fall behind 3-0 and then win the pennant, and it looks like I did it again tonight.
When Eckstein singled, I turned to my Dad and said "he looks nervous. I say he walks Edmonds and serves up a gopher to Pujols."
I'm so sorry, bud. :(

Nah, it's not your fault. I've been not watching when Pujols was up to bat this game because the bastard scares the fuck out of me. Of course, I can't not watch the at bat that puts the Astros into the Series, can I?
Ugh.

Man, I feel for the Astros fans on that one. That really hurt.

Well, what you got to understand is that this sort of thing happens to me with regularity.
It never happens intentionally. I don't say things *wanting* them to happen. They just blurt out, happen, and I'm never entirely sure how I managed to call it properly.
But the 2004 ALCS and the Pujols homer are just the most prominent examples of what's been happening for maybe five years now in a variety of sports.
Intellectually I tell myself it's just amazing coincidence, but the more this happens to me, the creepier it gets.

You should spend more time at the track.

That might be the most severe example of the kicked-in-the-stomach, wind-knocked-out impact on a stadium full of rabid fans that I've ever heard. It just went WOOOOF.

Good news, Jeebs.
I have class tonight that runs basically the duration of the game, so I won't be in a position to inadvertently curse y'all tonight. ;)
