Scotty and McCoy gave them the formula.

You know, so they could save the whales.

Isn't this the stuff they supposedly used in Star Trek IV to hold the whales in the Enterprise.
[/nerd alert]

And yes, I'm serious. If so, I'm kinda impressed that the screenwriters from 20 years ago actually sorta guessed a future invention.

Most Science Fiction movie writers do some good in depth research into the things they want to encorporate in the movies, developements like trasnparent aluminum could very well have been in their beginning stages back then and been easily found in science journals.

[DOUBLE nerd alert]No, it's the stuff they traded the formula for to get thick plexiglass to hold the whales in their Klingon ship. Geez! [/DOUBLE nerd alert]

I actually laughed at this. This thread might collapse under the weight of its own dorkiness.

I hated the whale star trek movie. I hated it until I saw Star Trek V. After you've seen that, Star Trek IV looks a whole lot better.

Excuse me. What does God... need with a starship?

Who would have thought my thread would turn geekier than WSUCougar's thread about fantasy armies around an imaginary campfire...

ALONtm is a ceramic compound with a high compressive strength and durability. When polished, it is the premier transparent armor for use in armored vehicles, said. 1st Lt. Joseph La Monica, transparent armor sub-direction lead

Premier meaning first, or as in the best of the bunch?

I hated the whale star trek movie.

I did too until I realized it was almost a spoof of the entire genre. Then I loved it!

Even by today's standards, she looks pretty good. Thank goodness there are no real truth lassos, because I know I would say something inappropriate.
