Played the demo of AoE III and liked it, but not enough to dip into my gaming funds. It wasn't anything special so I'll wait for the inevitable expansions and finally the "battle chest" of it all.
Quake 4? Nah.
I'm waiting on Civ IV and The Movies

I'll be picking up Quake IV. Also F.E.A.R, another FPS game thats garnered some positive reviews.
Maybe pick up AoE III later.

preordered AOE III for the wife. doesn't really interest me too much, although I'll probably throw it on the work laptop.

Q4 might be a buy for me. I played Q3 for about 12 months before I got bored with it.

Quake 4 has got some pretty negative reviews, which baffles me as it is the type of game that would get high reviews regardless of how it is. Not sure what's up with that.
Not my cup of tea anyway, but interesting.

I like the AOE series, so I'll probably get that one sooner rather than later.

Will stay away from AOE III and instead get Call of Duty 2 which comes out on the 25th of October.

I was really looking forward to this game, but was a little disappointed with the demo. I have a question for you though - when you click on a building, in the bottom right where you can get upgrades, did the boxes there have icons for the different upgrades? Or were the boxes blank and you had to hover the mouse over them to see which upgrade was for each box?
For me, there were no icons, just empty boxes, and hovering the mouse over them sucked. I thought it might just be because I have a poor vid. card, but wanted someone else to verify this.

I played the AoE III demo and frankly it isn't Rise of Nations. I think RON added several new twists to the genre, all of which I liked. Furthermore, I found it hard to go back to the AOE UI which I find considerably less useful. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm an RON fanboy and will be waiting for the Movies or Civ IV or Rise of Legends.

I guess the main reason I'm looking forward to AOEIII is because i didn't want a new game or a totally revamped game. I wanted more AOEII and I think that's what we're getting.
I didn't like RON or AOM, so I guess it's really a weird genre with a picky fanbase.

No, the boxes were full. Didn't have to hover to see what they did (at least from what I remember). Must be your graphics card or the driver. Have you updated it recently? Might just be too old.

Fooling with the demo right now. Am I missing something, or is there no way to have a land or sea unit auto-explore the map?

AOE 3
Demo v1.1 Now Available
It has the new minimized UI, various bug fixes and a tutorial.
version released today 10/21/05

Its has a completly different feeling when playing. It actually feels like a new game compared to the old demo. Also, I think the AI has been upgrated very well. I tried to make the enemy follow my dragoons to my base, where 2 towers and lots of smirmishers where waiting, but when the enemy saw my base he simply turned round and ran away so I had to hunt those pikemen down.
