Anybody else NOT getting the World Series on the radio?

I can't watch the World Series tonight but I figured that I could at least hear it on the radio. Not so fast my friend. No radio station in my market is carrying the game. And of course, I would have to pay to hear it on the web. So I guess I get to "watch" the game on ESPN gamecast. Anybody else doing the same?

Totally lame, miami_fan! Big time bummer.
Only time I wish I had a radio is when it's time for sports. I hate the tv announcers, so I like the idea of listening to radio broadcasts and watching the tv (muted).

Alas. Only radio I have is in my car, so that doesn't really happen for me.

Surrounded by mountains, we don't actually recieve any AM radio after sunset here in Santa Fe.

I am only about 15 miles from that tower and STILL can't get their signal either in the house or in the car at night. Thanks though. Now is the time I would need the Braves in the World Series. I can pick up two stations that are part of the Braves network :D

Thank goodness I've got XM. There are 2 channels that have it. WS Radio and ESPN World.

Well it doesn't, but it does ... most AM stations have to reduce power after local sunset, meaning their signal doesn't cover nearly the same territory after dark as it does during the day.

Sunset changes the atmosphere in some way that affects am waves. I am not up on the technical details. I didn't know that about AM stations having to reduce power.

After dark, there are changes in the upper atmosphere (ionosphere) that actually reflect radio signals in the AM band back toward the earth. A station can be heard hundreds, or thousands, of miles away, even with relatively low power levels. In order to reduce the interference suffered by the majority of stations, some are ordered to go off the air at sundown. Others are ordered to reduce power, and some of them must utilize directional antennae, to minimize radiation toward the primary stations on each frequency, as well as the adjacent channels.

We get the game on AM 710 in the LA area, but my neck of the woods gets a static-filled signal after about 6 pm...which, not coincidentally, is when the bulk of the game is on.
