I realized today that though I'm officially registered to vote in Virginia and even got my voter registration card in the mail last week, I know nothing about the candidates for my gubernetorial election and local elections.

Just a heads up for anybody else that might be in a similar boat and want to more info on their candidates, it would appear that the League of Women Voters has published their voter's guide in Virginia, so I believe that means that other states's chapters have done the same. If you live in Virginia and want the info for the governor's race, FYI: http://virginia.va.lwvnet.org/files/voters_guide_november_2005.pdf

I'm curious how much relevance the LWV's analysis is going to have for people here, though.

Wouldn't it be like the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers' Association, where the analysis of the politicians would be slanted towards or against the politican's stand on the issues most important to that particular organization?

I thought the League of Women's Voters didn't have a platform, or a slant? I could be wrong.

Well, LWV isn't exactly analysis. They don't back anybody.

In VA and MD (the two states I'm familiar with), they publish a straight Q&A on a variety of topics. It's been useful for me in the past, as a quick way to see where the candidates stand on a wide variety of issues.

Just figured I'd share the info that the LWV stuff had been published, in case anyone else wanted to know.

Just FYI, there's also a U.S. Rep election for California in the OC on December 6th. I think it's the 48th District.
