So of course I've seen the stage show several times, but has anyone heard anything about the the movie version that is slated to come out on the 23rd?
I noticed Jesse Martin is playing Tom and I always like him on L&O, so I figure I might check it out. But has anyone heard anything?

I believe this is the original Broadway Cast... they apparently had a very unique rapport... could be interesting...

yeah I just noticed that I guess everyone except for Rosario Dawson is original broadway cast, which is pretty awesome, cuz although I've seen it like 3 times I've never seen it with the original broadway cast (i'm not made of money).

might be time to dig out my CD-soundtracks. Willing to bet I still know every word of every song, used to drive around and sing duets of them with a friend (a girl).

Funny, I thought the play was bad enough.

Fixed... :)

So I read the title of this thread and for some reason thought of "Coupon: The Movie". Anyone else?

That stupid 500 thousand whatever seconds song is the WORST song in the history of life. When that damn commercial comes on I have to either mute the TV or change the channel.

I really enjoyed the stage play. Very powerful. I can't wait for the movie.

Can't wait to see this one... it will probably be one of the rare occasions I head to the theatre, thought I'll surely pick it up on DVD as well.

I kinda like the song ... granted it's no Jesus Walks by Kayne West, but it's ok. Having said that I think I'll be avoiding the movie though. Something about musicals in the movie theater is just not my cup of tea.

Move over Rent, here come The Producers in December.

I wonder if this is what Lane and Broderick were doing when they should of been practicing for The Odd Couple. If it wasn't for Brad Garrett that play would of been a total waste of time.

Best Week Ever on VH1 hit on the exact same thought about the marketing that I did -- the commercials play it as some sort of triumphant, optimistic dancing musical, when the reality is that the story focuses on poverty, HIV and the trials of life. Not exactly Chris Columbus' forte.

Salon.com said it managed to be even worse than Phantom was last year. I'll probably be dragged to go see it by a friend of mine who is OBSESSED with the play (I've never seen the play), so I guess I'll find out one way or another...
