talking about relationships that are diamond-free

And to be fair to both genders, an unflattering slate of options for men would need to include:

cars
electronics
sex
sex in cars
sex with electronics
pornography
pornography obtained via electronics
food
sex with food
sex with food in cars
diamond avoidance

Am I missing anything?

I mean, I get why my wife likes her wedding ring just like I like mine but this isn't about that ring (tho I think some do the same thing: "I want the biggest solitaire out there!"). It always seems to me that it's about girls and their ability to show off to other shrill harpies that they were able to either make or get their guy buy them something huge, expensive, and useless.

Guys, they get electronics because they're fun to play with. Sure they can show them off, but easily the biggest reason is to be able to use/play/watch whatever they get and it has absolutely nothing to do with my spouse. Do I like that I have a nice collection of video games? Yes, they're displayed on a shelf in my living room. If I had the choice of being able to show them off and not play them or play them and not show them off. No contest: Into the back of the closet they go, so I can continue to play hundreds or even thousands of hours a year.
