Alright, so continues the computer problems for me. Well, after running some viruses scans (from another hard drive, finding quite a few too) and doing some other things, I tried booting again. This time it said I was missing the hal.dll file. Apparently this is common, so I replaced it. Then I was missing the ntoskrnl.exe file. So I replaced that. Now I get an error saying "load needed DLLs for kernel". According to some research, I just need to repair the Windows installation, but I can't seem to be able to do that via my Windows CD. Any suggestions?

Boot to the Windows XP CD and instead of doing the repair when it first asks you, go ahead and continue on like you're loading windows for the first time. It will then find your windows installation on your HD and there will be another option for repair. From there it will re-install windows.

I did all that and went in like I was installing a new version. It found the current installation, but didn't give me any options to repair.

Hmmm... that's weird. Try the recovery console, then run chkdsk /r
