Sam, the wrinkly pooch with crooked teeth from Santa Barbara died Friday, just short of his 15th birthday. His owner, Susie Lockheed, said she had Sam euthanized after a veterinarian told her his heart was failing. The hairless Chinese Crested dog is a three-time winner the ugliest animal contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair. For that, Sam gained international fame and made TV appearances in Japan, in Britain's Daily Mirror tabloid, began traveling by limousine and even met Donald Trump on a talk show set. At the time of his death, Sam was scheduled to be filmed for a Discovery Channel series on the world's ugliest species. <!--stopindex-->
