A game set in 1983. The Death of the Territories.
I just downloaded it, started it up.. and chose WCCW (I remember watching it on ESPN). God it came back to me.
The Von Erichs. (and was sad when it reminded me on how it turned out)
The Freebirds. (Badstreet, USA!)
Iceman King Parsons.. (The Butt Butt!)
The Missing Link (The weird way where he'd grab his mohawk and use it to headbutt his opponents!)
Kamala, the Ugandan Giant!
Bill Mercer and Marc Lowrance calling matches from the Sportatorium..
If you are a wrestling fan, this is the reason to buy TEW.
If you have TEW, you need this. It has 26 regional feds around the world from the days before the WWF/E took over everything, so you have competition.. you have custom storylines, title graphics, gimmicks, the whole nine yards. I've been playing it for a half hour so far, and it's quite frankly made TEW a must have by itself.

I love WCCW. That was the basis for the sim I made about 2 years ago. I don't believe you watch the bouts do you? If you want to goof around with mine, check out my signature.
I might check this out, I don't know what I will think if it doesn't have the bouts, but maybe I am reading more into the importance of it than I thought.

Just bumping this here and adding a couple of comments:
To answer Senator's question, no, you don't watch the bouts in TEW. You basically run a fed and try to keep the crowd and your workers interested. I say "basically", but it's a deep game. I had played with the fictional CornellVerse for a short while, and I liked it, but other games drew me away.
With the release of Death of the Territories, I'll probably jump back into it. Honestly, I've never been a big wrestling fan. I watched Mid-South Wrestling because my parents used to attend some of their events. I watched WCCW with my parents because it came on before George Michael's Sports Machine, which I enjoyed as a kid (although I usually fell asleep before the Sports Machine came on). My parents were big into WCW and WWF, but those just seemed too flashy for me. Eventually, I stopped watching wrestling altogether except for a few months of ECW a few years ago.
With all of that said, I will actually recognize some of the wrestlers' names in DOTT, and that's enough to get me started with it. I really don't remember many of the personalities that those guys had, but it'll be nice to have some familiarity. In addition, just for kicks, I'm probably going to add my wife's cat as one of the wrestlers to see if I can make him one of the most sought-after wrestlers in the world. I can give my wife dynasty reports because she'll actually have an interest in what the damn cat is doing in the game.

This might just take this from "interesting" to "gonna have to buy it" for me. Much for the same reason you mentioned, the game is so deep that recognizing some names & characters will make it easier to get into. Will have to check it out further when I get back home on Friday night.
If it isn't too much of a pain & you get a chance, would you mind listing the feds that the mod includes?

It is about time. :)
I bought TEW2005 when it first came out and thought this MOD would be released in days, since it is something of a rewrite of the wrespi mod.
Anyway, played off and on with the default universe for a few weeks, and then decided to wait for DOT or the '93 MOD to come out before starting a serious career.
Thanks for the heads up.

Maybe I'll get back into this now, that or if a newer RaveX comes out.

Thanks for the list Pumpy, I appreciate it. If they've managed to hit the Georgia Championship stuff pretty close to right, this has quite a bit of entertainment potential for me.

I've been looking through the mod and am getting ready to start a serious game with it. Not sure which league I'm taking yet, though.
Awesome, i also stopped to play until this was released, time to go back to it.

The GCW stuff is awesome Jon. I had never really been heavily exposed to Pro Wrestling until I was stationed at Fort Gordon in 1980/81. A few us got into to going to the Bell auditorium in Augusta every Monday night to catch the Freebirds, Ted Debiase, Mr. Wrestling 1 and 2, Tommy Rich, Kevin Sullivan etc. Great times.
In fact in one of the things that is being worked on for the next upate of DOTT is the storyline where Austin Idol was being brought into to team with Kevin Sullivan against the Birds. He was late and a young wrestler (I think Tim Horner) was put in his place and got hammered......Idol shows up at the end of the Telecast claiming "car" trouble and Sullivan is pissed. The Freebirds come out and they are blaming Idol for the fact that they had to "hurt" Sullivans young partner. All hell breaks lose when Hayes blurts out "I can't help you had 4 flat tires" Of course Idol never mentioned what type of troubles he had, light bulb goes on and Heels and Faces brawl as the telecast ends to set up a big match at the Omni in Atlanta.
Kind of disturbing I remember a stupid wrestling angle almost 25 years after the fact, when I have forgotten multiple things of much greater importance over that time.......:) That is what is cool about Pro Wrestling in that era, you knew inside it was a work, but it was still so much easier to suspend reality in the Territory days.
