Was it ever decided how trades will work?
From what I remember they will be allowed, but you can only trade picks. I assume, since we are only doing the first three rounds, we can only trade the first three picks. Why would someone take a fifth or sixth rounder they couldn't use?

I'm waiting for Wrigley to make this definitive, but I believe you're right. I think we decided that we will draft three rounds and that some members like Doug would aid the less knowledgable with top players by position.

Also, I think it was the consensus that we can trade picks within those three rounds only (no player, future year picks, or fourth-later round picks).

I guess Wrigley hasn't been to the new board yet. I assume he'll make this all definite when he comes around.

BTW, 6 teams left.

The draft is 3 rounds

we start first thing monday

you get 24 hours on the clock, the clock starts when the team before you makes there pick. If you dont make your pick in 24 hours i will pick for you.

Trades are allowed, but, you can only trade picks with in our mock draft.
for example. you can trade a 3rd and your 1st to move up a couple spots in first round.
you can NOT trade 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, next years picks, current NFL players

egregious picks and trades may be rejected with a majority voice

there will be no clock on the weekend, people are still encouraged to make there picks if possible.

wrigleyfield
01-24-2003, 02:08 PM
now only 3 teams open

30 Philadelphia open

open Tampa Bay no first round pick (2nd round pick either 31st or 32nd of second round) (32nd in they win SB, 31st if they lose)

Buffalo is open. no first round pick. first is 14th in 2nd round

This is a good thing, all the teams open do not pick until very late...so we can start and it might be atleast a week before we get to these teams to give other people time to join.

Well, with the trading limitations, it looks like the Bengals will indeed be selecting Carson Palmer (not official until Monday.) I don't want to do it, but if I have to pick at 1.1, I may as well take the 1.1 guy. At least this way it will be realistic.

Bye Bye Asqueely Smith.

I think so.

Except... Do we want to keep it all confined to this one thread or should trade talk or actual picks be placed in separate ones?

I would say have a thread for DRAFT PICKS ONLY, meaning no posting in that thread at all unless it is your pick...to keep it clutter free and easy to read who has been picked and where....we can use this thread to discuss and trade talk and that stuff.

WSUCougar

Just a suggestion, but how about highlighting the team that is on the clock in red, such as:

1. Cincinnati
2. Detroit
.
.
.

OR, alternatively, have their deadline in red, such as:

1. Cincinnati Deadline: 1/27, 6:00 a.m. EST
2. Detroit

wrigleyfield
01-24-2003, 03:45 PM
so were pretty much set then. if people do want to trade now is the time to start talking.

from my end,
i'm going to update my mock draft for my web page now. from there...

i plan on preparing a little something for our mock draft. i'm the commish and i thought about also playing the part of ESPN and Mel Kiper for our mock draft.
that would include things like which player was just selected, where did he go to school, size, maybe i can find a brief bio.
also
-reminding people who the next 5 picks are.
-have my big board of top remaining players
-brief comments about the picks and trades (nothing to negative)

i may have those two things done by tonight, but may not be done till the morning of the superbowl. somewhere in between i'll finsh them, and when i do that i will start a new thread for picking only. from there we can start at any time.

what about the treads, we need one for picks, and one for these 3 things; (trade talk----comments about the picks----my little ESPN Mel Kiper thing)

wrigleyfield
01-24-2003, 03:46 PM
WSUCougar, you idea is very good. i will include that

btw. i'm copying everything and including it on my NFL Draft 2003 posting board which has a link on the top right of the draft web site.

Wrigley-

That's really cool. I know you probably have plenty of stuff to do, but if you do get a chance to do that commentary, I think it would be great and would give us all some prospective on the whole thing.

So, I guess we'll use this thread for trade talks and everything else. Then, Wrigley will make a new one for picks as soon as he's ready.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Okay, I thought I was going nuts. I was looking around at the old board and couldn't find anyone named soapy claiming the Broncos. I figured it might be the case that they claimed the Broncos at your site. So, is soapy definitely taking them over here?

I found this trade value point chart over at the huddles board, and I figured i could post it here to help us w/ trading of picks...It looks pretty good to me...
Also, I cut it off at 110 since we are only going 3 rounds but where i got it from they go all the way to pick 224.

lol, I wouldn't rest the future of my team on a qb that couldn't read Oklahoma's defense. No offense towards the Sooners, but great players beat the best competition in college.

Agree 100%. Plus, OU doesn't really do a ton of stuff. They pretty much play a zone all the time and rarely go man. They just bring blitzes from a bunch of different places, have a ton of speed, and do what they do very well. A patient quarterback, though, should be able to complete passes against them.

When I pick, I will give a small commentary but could say much more. For the sake of keeping the picks thread from getting crowded, I suggest we open a new thread for commentary on our own picks and other teams picks. As I prepare my own commentary, I see it getting too long for the picks thread.

Wrigley,

I thought we were going for 24 hours per pick (from when the previous selection is made). You listed 2 PM eastern on WED for cthomer ... that's almost 2 full days.

oh yeah, change the subject so it shows cthomer on the clock ...

wrigleyfield
01-27-2003, 04:06 PM
i had made some miscalculations with the clock, it should be set now. double checking for me in future wouldn't hurt

Craptacular
01-27-2003, 04:13 PM
I'm not sure if this was suggested before, but why doesn't each person who makes a pick send a PM to the next person in line, telling them what time (eastern to be consistent) they made their pick? I guess the final deadline is up to Wrigley, but the next person knows that they basically have 24 hours from that point. This is just in case someone isn't following along closely and their pick comes up more quickly than they might have expected.

wrigleyfield
01-27-2003, 04:17 PM
