Foreman technology has come a looong way. My 5-year old unit finally died so I bought one of the new ones about 2 months ago. This thing is sweeet! As someone mentioned, the plates are removable and dishwasher safe (HUGE feature) and there is actually a temperature setting and timer. Even a little booklet with temperature and timing suggestions for various meats and veggies. Our poor stove is being ignored like never before.

How do you get round the problem of marinaded/coated stuff just charring on the GF? I use mine a lot, but only for plain meats/fish as the couple of times I have tried to do something more imaginative it's just gone horribly wrong...

Douse it, and it won't stick so bad. Also clean it while it's still warm and the goop just comes right off.

He tried to make me a grilled cheese sandwhich once when I was sick. He burned it so bad it melted into the pan and we had to throw it out - pan and all.
He's really good at dialing the phone though...so when its his turn to cook we usually get Garlic Jim's Pizza.

I use my George Forman all the time. Grilled cheese, chicken variations, veggies, all quite yummy!
Usually I do marinate or prepare the chicken somehow, which has potential to leave the GF really messy. I've found that sticking a damp paper towel or two into the grill and closing it just after I take my food off the grill (but after I've unplugged it!) makes cleanup once it's cool a snap. I too have one of the "old ones" that doesn't come apart to go into the dishwasher.
As for the outdoor Foreman grill, one of the guys in my tailgate group brings some version of a Foreman grill to all of our tailgates. It looks sort of like this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006UJTLK/qid=1133566677/sr=1-99/ref=sr_1_99/104-5952925-5769562?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=284507) one, but it folds up more or less onto itself into a very compact package (about the size of a paper box, when you get the box of however many reams it is or whatever).
It's useful at tailgates, though for "routine" use I'd stick with a regular propane or charcoal grill, thanks to the flavor you can add with varieties of woodchips and such, which you can't do with the GF. For tailgating, it's perfect. Heats up pretty quickly and we can somewhat pretend our burgers and brats are "healthy." ;) A lot of fat DOES drip off...

I'm sure the grill is good and all(never used it), but I MUCH prefer his Comfort Zone Waist-Relaxer pants. I used to never wear dress pants untill I tried on a pair of those. Greatest things ever, only problem is they don't make a waist size in them small enough for me(smallest they make is 38W that I can find), so I have to use a belt or they fall right off. Still I highly recommend them as they are the most comfortable things ever.

I have some Penzey's "Northwoods Fire" seasoning I like to sprinkle onto both sides of my chicken before popping it onto the GF if I don't marinate it. That and a little pepper, maybe a little salt on each side. I heart Penzey's.

What makes a burger a Texas Style Burger?
To answer your question, I dunno what makes a Texas Style Burger... I somewhat followed a recipe that came with the grill:
2 eggs
chopped onion
about half a cup of ground pork rinds
1 small can of green chili peppers,
2 cloves of garlic
cilantro
2 TBSP apple cider vinegar,
3 tsp of chili powder,
1/2 tsp of sea salt,
2 lbs of ground turkey
about half a small can of chopped chipotle peppers
I kinda eyeballed everything, so not really sure on the exact measurements. Spicy, but not too much.
We topped our bunless cheeseburger with sour cream and salsa.
YUMM!!!
