I enjoy Chris Berman, Tom Jackson, Chris Mortenson, Steve Young... Basically, the Sunday NFL Countdown crew minus Michael Irvin. Could live without Ditka too.

I do enjoy the Sunday Night Football crew, although I know many people loathe them.

In spite of his being a Buckeye, I like Herbstreit.

I like Tom Jackson and Mortenson from the NFL side.

I can't stand Berman. He's to the point where he's all schtick and we've heard it all before too many times.

I really am tired of Tom Jackson.

Berman is just OK. He's earned the right to be OK though.

Mort is great.

Young is OK.

I like Boomer Esiason the best of all the football guys.

Actually I'll put Young in the annoying camp.

I dunno. I think the personalities themselves are seemingly too strong in some ways. I like Baseball Tonight team, even when they bring in random people as GMs to give their perspective. I always have enjoyed that show. I dunno about Sportscenter, I never watch it anymore.

Can't stand Berman.

I like Herbstreit, Dan Patrick (I guess he's radio only now, though), Young, and Mort.

I second that.

Oh and I like Craig Kilborn too, oh wait, he's not there anymore...

Jaws and Harold Reynolds are pretty much it that I would say that I like. There's lots of people i'm indifferent to.

Herbstreit & Fowler

Wilbon and Kornheiser on PTI.

Other than that, I have no idea... I barely watch ESPN. I watch some Sunday night football, maybe a little NFL live every once in a while, that's it. I never watch Sportscenter anymore. Ever.

I don't watch ESPN for any of the personalities. I watch for information. And I think Karl Ravech and Chris Fowler do a good job of anchoring the BB2N and CGD shows. I still like Berman and Tom Jackson, but that show may be dead as we know it after this season ends, anyway.

Of the other people, I don't really care about any of the former players-turned-analysts in any of the sports. I much prefer the Peter Gammons, Jayson Stark, Chris Mortensen, John Clayton types who give us "behind the scenes/off the field" information.

That's all I want from ESPN - the on the field and off the field news. I've watched enough sports to be able to analyze it myself, thanks. And I have other things to be doing rather than listening to two people fake a fight over an issue for ratings. Information is all I want. Keep the rest.

Does the bar scrolling news and scores at the bottom of the screen count as a personality?

Mort is overrated. Jaws is great. I like him and Hoge together.

As for the ESPN Gameday crew, I just like them because they work well together (But Irving and Ditka are weak links). All the other crews are too rough, like they are doing a rehersal and decide to air it anyway.

I don't think the CBS crew likes each other at all. Ever since Boomer made that smart ass remark to Marino about not winning a championship a year or two ago, they look like worst enemies.

And listening to CBS' Shannon Sharpe do replays of a game is like sticking a wet finger into a power socket. It's just that brutal.

Each crew's (ESPN, CBS, FOX) head man, Berman, Gumbel and Fox's (can't think of name) are a push. Each are solid at what they do. Berman is much faster, and moves things along just a little better, though.

I like Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg a lot (probably the only person here who does), and I think Berman is cool because he's such a buffoon.

That's about it.

I like Mike Gulick for his honesty/how real he SEEMS (maybe he's just a good actor, hell if I know). I only really know him from the ESPN Radio morning show, though.

Kornheiser and Wilbon are OK, I sometimes watch PTI.

I really hate most of the other personalities. Granted, I don't watch too much so it's rare I could pick one out and say "I despise him" or "I think he's good." Basically, if they have a brain AND USE IT, and have a bit of heart, they're OK in my book.

Oh, and it goes without saying that I wish Dick Vitale to permanently lose his voice and ability to type/write for ANY sports website or paper or magazine. I don't wish him death, but I wish he could somehow completely disappear from TV, Radio, and Print Media.

This is about where I am when it comes to most sports programming, not just ESPN.

Harold Reynolds is the best.

Wilbon, Kornheiser, Herbstreit and Fowler are very good as well.

Barry Melrose is fun to watch just for the mullet.

None of them come close to Lee Corso though. Arguably the most entertaining of them all.

How could no one have mentioned Kenny Mayne? Or maybe it's just me? I thought he was great when he did Sportscenter. His recent "Mayne Event" segment is ok from time to time. I do like his dry sense of humor though.

Lee Corso and Kenny Mayne are definitely among my favorites.

What happened to Kenny Mayne? Was he the Great Experiment on Sportscenter that went awry, and now he just does Nick Bakay-type segments? Or did he leave ESPN altogether?

Can anyone stand to listen to Dick Vitale on Monday mornings on Mike & Mike? And I don't just mean because he's loud as hell. I mean because the guy brings tears to my eyes he sounds so gross. The past few weeks, he's been nothing more than a wheezing, scratchy-voiced, phlem-coughing gas bag (I know, how is that different from any other Vitale segment). But seriously, it's disgusting to listen to. I actually turned him off a couple of weeks ago just because he was making me uncomfortable when he was losing his voice and hacking up phlem and continuing to try to speak through it all. Not exactly what I want to hear at 7:30 on a Monday morning.

Golic is doing a bit of acting, at least when it comes to the M&M schtick they put on, but otherwise, he's pretty good. Considering his brother was on Saved by the Bell: The College Years, I'm going to guess he's probably not that great an actor.

Scott Van Pelt is the funniest guy they have, yet does not let "funny schtick" get in the way of his job (reading the news) a la Stu Scott and Kenny Mayne. Mike Tirico is the best, most professional sports broadcaster no matter what he is doing. I don't have much use for most of the former athletes either, but I think that Harold Reynolds, Tom Jackson and Greg Anthony sound more like trained, professional broadcasters than they do most other former athletes.

Haven't seen John Saunders mentioned, might have missed him. He may no longer count, as he might only anchor Sports Reporters. But, I place him alongside Mike Tirico, who someone else mentioned earlier as just being professional, no gimmicks or anything.

I might be in the minority, but I like John Clayton. Could just be the Pittsburgh bias. But, I don't like him and Sean Salisbury together...much too like WWF...or WWE...er, wrestling.

Pretty much anyone on ESPN News gets a failing grade. Really only watching for the bottom line...but you can't help but hear the people "bumbling...stumbling" over the names and stats.

I like Tirico and Herbstreit on Thursday night college football, but kind of miss Corso on there as well.... I'll second the Kenny Mayne discussion, and I also like Linda Cohn.

Most of the rest of them like themselves a bit too much, though.

I think it's great that they gave Tweety Bird a job.
