How will the schedule/season work?

I'll come up with a schedule where everyone plays each other team in their conference home and away, and then probably everyone in the opposing conference once too.

It looks like we probably won't reach 16 teams, and some of the guys who signed up from MaddenOnline seem to not be serious about it (one of them didn't remember the league when I challenged him the other night). So I will prune them from the list, and probably Godzilla will be made an alternate because his computer busticated and he is hard to get in contact with. Anyhow, I will work on these things in the next day or so.


P.S. Raven - I assume it was your side that lost connection the other night? I waited around for you in the West room, but you never showed up after our disconnect.

Kodos, I thought it was you who lost the connection. I never had to reconnect, so I don't think it was me.

I wasn't sure if you'd be back or not, so I continued playing against the computer and then quit right before it was over (so you wouldnt get the loss).

Huh. I didn't have to reconnect either, so who knows? Oh well. I never finish vs. the computer anymore. If I'm online, it's to play a person, not the computer. So after a disconnect, I just quit and go back to the lobby.

As I mentioned in the earlier thread, in the interest of a more competitive league, I am excluding the following teams: Raiders, Bucs, Eagles, Rams, Packers, and Steelers. Are there any other teams that any of you feel should be eliminated as well? Or maybe we should make it an no teams with an overall score over 85 rule. What do you guys think?

Personally I would enjoy it being the worst 12 teams on madden, but that probably won't happen so either below 85, or maybe even 80...

I could honestly care less about the 85 or under rule but i totaly agree with dropping the 49ers. T. Owens is sometimes impossible to stop. I'd rather play the rams every game than having to stop T.O. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with the 4 - 3 team Divisions

So the schedule would look like

Home and Home vs Division opponents (4)

plus

Home or Away vs Non-Divison (9)

for a total of 13 games


I like that schedule alot better than if it would be 2 Leagues --> A total of 16 games... But I am willing to go with either setup... Depending on the rest of the leagues sentiment on the issue...

Any thoughts about Playoffs? Will they be similar to the NFL with a first round bye for one team or will we play straight up 8 teams, 4 teams, or maybe even all twelve teams with each division winner getting a bye??? 6 teams could also work and give the leader of each league a bye with the wild card playing the other division winner in round one...

Just food for thought b/c I haven't seen any discussion on playoffs yet?

Do you think we should have a vote on how to setup the league divisons etc... Seem like some people don't frequent this board alot???

4 Div and 9 At large games should be used to determine top 2 teams in each div. these 8 teams would go on to a playoff

actually a problem: 13 games means some teams have more home and some have more away.

I wonder if madden builds in any advantages to the home team

If we have 4-3 team divisions, we should probably go with 4 division winners and 2 wildcards for the playoffs.

Here is my first proposal for the FML conferences. It balances out the teams by ratings as much as possible, while preserving NFC/AFC alignments as much as possible with 9 real-life AFC teams and only 3 NFC teams. Feel free to critique it and offer your own proposal.:)

We haven't settled on how many games there will be yet. Definitely home and away against all division mates. Not sure about opposing conference. I'd like to play everyone, but I'm not sure people want a 16-game schedule.

That sounds good, Chuck. Maybe for the non-conference (AFC vs. NFC), we should have the top teams face the top teams and the weaker teams face the weaker teams?

The only problem with 13 games is teams will get uneven amounts of home and away games, which might be okay. Maybe it'd be a way to give weaker-rated teams a break by having 1 more home game than the top-rated teams. These are just a couple ideas to help create an NFL-like parity situation.

DAMN!! That took me 4 hours it was tougher than I thought it would be. SORRY how I posted it...when I first typed it out, I tried to get it in two rows but it didnt turn out.

If you have a team with a ranking of 78 and lower..... you will have 1 more home game than away. Except for the Redskins....sorry Joe Gibbs Jr. I couldnt get you another home game without taking one away from one of the top rated teams...and they already have 1 less than away.

So its like this.....
Rated 82-80 and Redskins ( have 6 home and 7 away)

RATED 78 and below (have 7 home and 6 away)

Games are 6 minutes on all-pro, fatigue, random weather, and all that stuff set to "on". I'd like to have a minimum amount of rules, and hope that "don't play like an asshat" is a good enough guideline.

I am the one that won't be able to create an FML ID. I already have 4 IDs on my memory card (only 1 is mine) and can't delete any of the others.

Also, I don't think I will be available at 10 central on tuesdays and thursdays. I live on the East Coast, so thats 11 here, and I usually work until 11ish during the week. Then I have a 9am class on M,W, F. But I'm sure we will figure something out.
