Well....I am pretty excited...it's been a while since BYU has been to a bowl game, granted it is the Las Vegas Bowl, but hey, for me, it's an extra game I haven't had the past few years.

They play Cal, and I hope to hell they smash em....

I'm currently stuck with Christmas crap movies from Netflix because of a weekend party. :(

The Las Vegas bowl doesn't look too bad, I think that Cal wins big though.

Cal verus BYU could be an entertaining game ... of course I am a Cal homer so others may disagree. I think Cal can run all over BYU, but BYU can put up points as well so it may be high scoring.

Big question for Cal is whom they start at QB. Their #1 went down with a knee injury first game of the season, and their JC transfer looked poor throughout the year. They played their last game with their #3 QB who played some fullback for them last year. If only Aaron Rodgers had come back for one more year .....

It's the run BYU is good at stopping, you gotta be able to throw...we might as well play LB's out at corner the way our DB's have been all season....

BYU is missing Mania Brown this game due to injuries sustained in the U of U game, so you might be able to run up the middle some.

I am going to watch the game with a Cal homer tonight, it will be interesting.

Yeah, I was looking at your defensive stats and it seems you're solid against the run. But Cal's offensive line is huge and talented, and they have two very good backs (one over 1000 yeards and another who could pass it in this game). I think Cal is like 10th in the nation in rushing averaging 6 ypc. So I still think Cal will try to run, and they'll be successful. But we'll see.

If I was BYU though I'd put as many men in the box as possible and cover Cal one on one. Looks like Levy (3rd stringer) is starting at QB, so I doubt the passing game will be impressive for Cal. On that side of the ball it's going to be strength vs. strength.

Is it just me, or does Mike Gottfried sound like he's drunk? He's been slurring his words and making incoherent comments for the entire telecast.

Whoooo.... hell of a start to the CSU-Navy game.

dola... reversal of tactics a bit, as CSU takes the opening kickoff and drives 77 yards in 10 plays for the TD. Navy gets the ball, first play looks like the triple option but the QB ducks back and throws the ball instead, nobody anywhere near the WR for a 55-yard TD. 7-7

He always sounds like that to me. I guess that's why I don't watch any games/ shows he is on.

I could be mistaken, but isn't there a health-related reason for his slurred speach?

I don't know, but I thought the announcers were pretty bad in general. The referees and booth judge made some questionable calls as well both ways.

Good game though, BYU never gave up. I give props to BYU's QB. That guy is very accurate. He's got another year left right?

OK, was just reminded by a coworker. Gottfried suffered a mild stroke within the last year. That's why his speach is slurred.

That's actually pretty brave to come back to broadcasting over something like that.

Yeah, we return almost everyone on offense next year...we lose Tahi (#3, big bruising back), a couple of OL and Todd Watkins, who you didn't see was Michael Redd he was injured and he will be our Todd Watkins next year. The same speed, better hands in my opinion. We also return Harline and Coats as well as Meikle at WR. We have a verbal from one of Texas' top HS WR's as well, that plans on coming in.

Defensively, we lose a lot up front with Mania Brown graduating, and our 3 starting LB's graduating as well. However, we gain depth and experience in the defensive backfield, and already are getting some solid talent coming in the terms of mid year transfers from JUCO's at the defensive back position.

I see is as one of the top teams in the MWC next year, and depending on who our non conference games are, I see is getting into the top 25 sometime next year. (By admiting this, I am going to be kicking myself in the ass come this time next year.

I though Hardine looked very impressive as well. I'm not sure how big he is, but he looked pretty big with some good hands. Tough to stop.

Definately, he is a Chad Lewis type TE, in fact, he came from the same High School as Chad.

One of the passes he dropped last night was a rarity, I have seen him make some crazy catches this season...

Good game to Cal, and Lynch is my pick for the Heisman next year...he is an awesome runner. Strong, shifty....just a good solid back.

I wasn't aware of that. My comment was out of line.
