For those who have been longing for a "retro" look to the forums, there are now two additional styles for you to choose from:
"The Sideline" (green/dark grey) and
"Old FOFC" (yellow/white/red)
To choose either of these styles, click the "User CP" button at the top of any page. The click the "Options" tab, and scroll to the bottom. There will be a drop-down menu where you can choose which style you'd like to use.
One note about these: Custom graphics have NOT been added yet. The styles still use the default purple vB buttons and icons, so they may look somewhat out of place. I know there are others working on that, so that should change eventually. But for now, this should be a good start for those who wanted a different look for the forums.

Simms, you kick ass!
One thing that seems off on the yellow colorset though is the fields where you can enter text when typing a message (shows up too grey or something) and the right hand scroll bars (shows up brick red for me).

The green sidline style is hard on the eyes. Nice to have the old yellow back though

I noticed the dark grey input boxes, too, but figured it was related to the Mac I'm working on at home. I'll take a closer look and see if that's fixable, but I shouldn't have changed anything that affected that. Didn't know about the red scrollbar because, again, I'm on a Mac. That's easily fixed though. What colors should it be?
The Sideline color codes were taken directly from the source code of a page I viewed at archive.org, so to the extent that it can be, that color scheme should be true to the original design. If it's too hard on the eyes, blame Chubby and Tony. :)

It may be hard on the eyes, but it is an accurate recreation.

Do I assume that work is continuing on additional colors/themes besides the Sideline, Putrid Yellow and Default? I really like the Brick theme (whatever it's called) from FOBL.

Additional color schemes can be added in minutes (though matching custom graphics take a little longer). I can add the brick one, but I lost the style in the server crash at FOBL, so I'll have to guess at the hex codes. I'll take a stab at it after Ryan's done with the hacks.
If there's any other color combinations people want, I (and Shorty, I'm sure) would be happy to take requests, per admin approval.

Yeah, I'm updating some things right now to the FOFC style.

The style drop-down isn't working, Shane...it's linking to the template sets, and not the styles. If I change styles using it, I get stuck.

Thanks, I'll fix.

Do you know why it's changing the template set as well? Here's the code..
<select name="styleid" onChange="window.location=('index.php?styleid='+this.options[this.selectedIndex].value)">
<option value="6" selected>FOFC Yellow</option>
<option value="5">The Sideline</option>
<option value="1">Default vB</option>

When I first logged on the forum the setting was for yellow. Although it will let me change between the yellow and the green it will not let me go back to the default settings. Will this be fixed or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

What do you mean? The vB blue original?
By the way, the style drop-down has been fixed. It goes back to the other template when you change to The Sideline colors.

Yes. I like the default settings that were visable yesterday. I really don't want yellow or green but they are now my only options. Please help.

Done. You can now select the default style.

Thank you kindly Shorty for making the option available but I must admit that in the meantime I have grown quite fond of the green sideline settings. I wasn't around back in those days so I never really knew much about it but so far it seems to be looking rather cool. Thanks for the hard work.

I'm still doing something wrong. I change the style in the Option to Default and submit, but while the front page and control panels show default, the forum still is yellow. I don't like either the yellow or sideline and until we get other options, I would like to use default. What am I doing wrong?

It works now. Somehow the default template had been changed to the old yella'. All I had to do was recreate the default template. Confirm it for me Bucc.
