So my question is about loans. How is a short-term and long-term loan defined? I started a career, took a job at Kettering Town, and proceeded to get some players on loan. I loaned 4 players for 12 months each, then proceeded to make some short-term loans. When I did some, the deals were cancelled, since I had 4 players on short-term loan. So I don't get it. When I make a loan, it tells me the limits, and how many I have at each type. It says I can make 4 long-term loans, then it says I've done 4. It says I can make 8 short-term loans, then it says I've made 0. It also says I can have only 4 short-term players on loan at a time, and it says I have 4. So it seems like these 12 month loans are long term when I make them, but the players are considered to be on short term once they join the team. Kind of blows since usually I can make 12 loans throughout the season, and this cuts that number to 4. Can anyone help explain to me what's going on?

3 months are considered short term.
More then 3 motnhs=long term

Then why does it say I have 4 players on short-term loan, after making 4 loans of 12 months each?

Then why does it say I have 4 players on short-term loan, after making 4 loans of 12 months each?Poor wording. You are only allowed a max of 4 loans at anyone time, short or long.

Are you sure? This was not the case in FM05.

Huh? I had always encountered that rule, back to CM 99/00.

I was definitely able to have 8 players on loan in '05. I'd have 4 loans until 'end of season' that I'd have to get done by 12/31, then do 4 more short-term loans. When those loans ended, I'd decide whether to renew them or loan someone else. But by the end of the season, I'd always have 8 loans.

Nope, I'm sure it's a maximum of 4 short-term loaned players at one time. This should not exclude him from also having long-term players on his team as well at the same time. I know I've head more than 4 loaned players on my team at one time in this year's version.
This does not answer Passcaglia's original question however.

After checking around the net it seems you are right, and you should be able to have 4 and 4. I guess I never tried to take more than 4 loanees in at one time with FM05.
Apart from it being a bug (there are several bug reports on the SI boards about problems with the max numbers) I'm not really sure why you can't take anymore short-term loans. It might be possible that the game sees the 12 months as 1 season + short time loan, since the season will end long before the 12 months loan is over. You might have better luck with just season long loans. But that's just a shot in the dark. It would seem to me it was bugged. (I know in 6.01, I had a player on 12 month loan and when the next season started I was listed as having no loans at all, although he was still on my team)

Yeah...I'd always done 'end of season' loans before and had no problems. I'll just go back to doing that!

Another question...I'm trying to set up a game where Rangers and Celtic have a sugar daddy, but I'm not getting much luck. Will it be noticeable if I'm successful? When I started the game, Rangers had 20 million dollars in transfer funds. Seems like it should be more.

This isn't the "Sugar Daddy" change, but you could use the editor to manually screw with their finances.

I'm working on that now. The editor crashed the first few times I tried it. Hopefully I'll have better luck this time!

$20m is hardly peanuts for a team in the Scottish leagues ... plus remember you'll be likely to get injections etc. if you do well ...
