Any thoughts on this? I'm only about halfway through a season so I'm not really ready to make any in-depth comparisons. One thing I can say, I'm having a hard time getting used to the interface in BBCF.
*Edit* Clarification -- I'm not saying I don't like it, I'm just having trouble getting used to where everything is.

I've already played BBCF more than TCY if for no other reason but the fact that I can adjust the AI setting for what positions the computer will recruit for me and leave it be while I handle everythingelse.

As much as it will rub SkyDog and others the wrong way, one of the main differences for me has been the ability to recruit in the offseason. Typically, I'm a stickler for realism, but I find it much easier when I can concentrate on one task at a time. With TCY, I couldn't get into the games because I was recruiting or vice versa.
Although the interface is clunky with certain things and there are still some minor bugs, I find the recruiting to be very good.
I'm enjoying BBCF more than I did TCY overall.
TCF?
Least I'm not the only one.

Brain fart TCY
Too bad, I was hoping there was a game I didn't know about.
In any case, I'd wait until BBCF is fully patched to really compare them but right now I think TCY does some things better and BBCF does other things better. Considering how old TCY is, I think it holds up pretty well.

I had just finished the reading about Total College Basketball when I started this thread! :)

I like the fact that I can look at TCY for extended periods of time without my eyes losing focus. BBCF looks great but it's very hard to look at bright white fonts on dark backgrounds.
ADVANTAGE - TCY
The way the scores sim out visually is terrible in BBCF. I wish it could be displayed as a group of games on a page, then reveal the scores one by one, and then the screen is refreshed with a new group of games. Broken down by conference or rankings perhaps. That would be much cleaner. The TCY scoreboard is a great feature, but even TCY's quick scrolling sim resolution is better than BBCF. If I can watch the "universe" sim out in a structured way as suggested, BBCF will easily take the lead, but for now...
ADVANTAGE - TCY
The ability to call plays (while not my thing over the long haul) is really well done, obviously that gives BBCF a huge advantage for people who like to coach the games (TCY does not provide that).
ADVANTAGE - BBCF
BBCF is up to date.
ADVANTAGE - BBCF
I trust TCY's game engine. I think I trust BBCF's game engine.
ADVANTAGE - TCY
I'm very biased towards Solecismic, so I'm almost positive that I will play more TCY2 vs BBCF (if there ever is such a choice). But between BBCF and TCY, the choice is obviously BBCF. That's it for now on short notice with no research. :)

I'm enjoying BBCF more than I did TCY overall.I'm with you on this, the biggest thing about TCY that I hated was the recruiting. It was more of a pain in the a** then really wanting to get into it. I want to concentrate on my season and worry about recruiting later.
That being said, TCY was/is still a great game and one that had a great engine, poll system, and things that I left up to my coaches that seemed right. With BBCF right now, depth chart suggestions, gameplans, and game play calling by my coaches are really goofy. I know I can do that myself, but I don't want to. Hopefully the next patch will sure up a few things I don't like about BBCF.
(I have not been through recruiting yet with BBCF)
TCY Positives: game engine, scout/coach suggestions, polls that made sense.
TCY Negatives: recruiting, academics (time allocations), plain jane - immersion was ok.
BBCF Positives: immersion is top notch, interface is good, lots of in-depth tid bits to look over, call you own plays (doesn't matter to me though)
BBCF Negatives: some goofy engine play results, kicking seems more like pro kickers than college, polls, repetitive penalties in pbp - in fact pbp is getting old already. :)
Both games have + and - and I like both of them. TCY was so accurate, imo and BBCF is getting there plus the immersion is unreal.
