Actually I appreciate it a ton.
Ok, every match is booked (including DataKing and myself) except ardent and MrBug. I do know that ardent issued it because I have to run his team on occasion, so I will PM and hattrick email MrBug and see if I can get his attention. If I cant, then I dunno what I am going to do.
I know DataKing is quaking in his boots wondering just what I am going to throw out there on him. :D
Hello hello! I have issued the challenge. I haven't heard from MR.Bug though. If I don't by Tuesday, I may need some assistance in scheduling a friendly.

And the two games to watch in this second round of the FOFC Cup.
#1 - Cedar Pond Horned Toads vs Screamin' Seamen
Can Cedar Pond do the amazing again, and kick the Seamen's arse right out of the Cup? Or will Dataking and the Seamen have his revenge, and a tasty treat of frog legs to boot?
#2 - Galesburg Avengers vs NE Oklahoma Sidekicks
The battle of the outspoken teams. Who will win this war of the trash-talkers? Extra security is being flown into both sites, and the fans are ready for bloodshed.
We aren't flyin no security in. Ours fans will beat you, your players and your fans down!:)

In other news, Galesburg has announced 'Board With a Nail Through It Night'. All fans travelling to Oklahoma will be given a free promotional board with a nail through it, sporting the Avengers logo.
;)
You gotta get past our metal detectors first:)
Since I'm free to travel to the match of my choice, I'll have to decide.
I'm troubled to decide which game to go to. On one side, I can watch the the defensive battle of DK and Horned. On the other I can watch my protege and the run and shoot as well as get a free souveneir (SP?). Three of the four teams involve are OFFICIAL supporters of the Raiders, and the other will soon be. Very tough decision.
I've got a feeling I'd like to see the more wide open offense hattrick displays and I'll travel to OK with my board with the nail in it. I'll be cheering for the big plays, however, and not any one team. To counteract the board with the nail in it, I'll be wearing my Sidekicks T-Shirt.
I'm assuming I'll have a VIP box when I arrive. Please make hotel accomodations for me as well :) .

Looks like you've got a tough choice to make there Ardent, and I can fully understand your decision. However, please allow me to sweeten the pot and intice you to watch the SSFC/CPHT match instead. I only need one word in order to do so...
Strippers!
Be seein' ya! ;)
Well, since you put it like that, I may have to goto your game DataKing:)
Ardent, you definitely have a VIP box if you come. You will be staying at the Embassy Suites free of charge. Order anything you like, free of charge. And yes, that includes the strippers:)
Coffee Warlord

Ah, Ardent, you are of course, granted the VIP Board With a Nail, which not only sports the Avenger logo, but also has a nice rubber E-Z grip handle, for better smiting.
Also, the business end of the device has a bobble head doll of the Avengers player of your choice. Just another way we of the Galesburg Avengers soccer team say 'thanks' to our sponsors.

These ploys from DataKing will not work! Since Sunday, the Toads have been under 24-hour lockdown. I have promised extra rations of flies and spiders should they play well against the Seamen, plus an additional mudbath.
wackerfreak might go take a look at the local entertainment though. ;)

IFK Bananskruv - Gargoyles
Date: 1/29/2003 at 20:00
MatchID: 4965998
Arena: IFK Bananskruv Arena
Crowd: 608
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 608 to IFK Bananskruv Arena. Bananskruv tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Bryan - Hellstrand, Hylind, Bjärnsson - Skogér, Olofsson, Herlind, Stensson, Roca Paradis - Tegér, Ingemarsson.
Gargoyles had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: South - Black, Jernigan, Cromwell - Clements, MacMorran, García-Atance, Sørli - Simpkins, Orkola, Jackson.
Many thought Yngve Tegér ought to have been awarded a penalty shot in the 21st minute, as he went down trying to circle the visitors keeper Earle South. In the to 23rd minute a very unfortunate collision in the home teams penalty area led to Bananskruv´s Joakim Hylind being carried off the pitch and replaced by Fredrik Robertsson. Gargoyles seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Kristian Ingemarsson gave his Bananskruv the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post.
The visitors didn´t give in and after 42 minutes Bryce Jackson got through the home sides central line of defense, rolling in the levelling goal to make it 1 - 1 Martin Hellstrand behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 42nd minute as he gave the ball away to an opponent. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. The 42nd minute saw the home team take a 2 - 1 lead after a leak in the visitors right side defense. Scorer for Bananskruv was Andreas Stensson. Gargoyles could level the score in the 45:th minute at 2 - 2, as Terje Sørli struck home after a fine midfield combination, leaving him completely unmarked. The teams went for a half-time break at 2 - 2. Bananskruv held the ball, with a clear 58 percent possession rate.
The Gargoyles players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. Bryce Jackson surprised the home team with a free kick aimed at the wrong post in the 47:th minute. 2 - 3 for Gargoyles. The referee showed Gargoyless Clint Simpkins the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In the 61st minute Gargoyles put themselves up 2 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. Scorer was Dougal MacMorran. Kristian Ingemarsson had a good opportunity to reduce in the 68:th minute but wasn´t cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. Gargoyles held the ball, with a clear 51 percent possession rate.
Most important Bananskruv player was Andreas Stensson. Fredrik Robertsson was a disappointment, however. Gargoyles´s best player was Bryce Jackson. Virgil Clements on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 4.

Well I got beat 2-0. My plan to steal a goal away didnt work with reserves so now I have a week to decide what I am going to do still being in my division race.
This doesnt damper my use of 4-5-1 by the way, its just more fun for me to use instead of 3-5-2. ;)

Screamin' were very close to putting themselves one up in the 3rd minute as Keith Stubbs got through, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Screamin'´s Otis Johnson was able to shove the ball in. 1-0. Screamin' put themselves up 2 - 0 when William Brown broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. 2 - 0 was the half-time score. Screamin' held the ball, with a clear 54 percent possession rate.
Horneds Jarrod Knapp got himself booked after a foul. Horneds Tommy Andersson got himself booked after a foul. Miguel Ángel Villalvilla Martínez of Horned received a yellow card in the 82nd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Screamin', bringing the final ball possession rate to 56 percent, dominated the battle.
The Screamin' Seamen got exactly what they were looking for in the first leg of this matchup, a shutout. This puts us in good shape for next week's match at the pond.
The second half was hardly exciting, but it was effective. The Toads certainly got more aggressive in the second half, as evidenced by the three cards. I'm just glad they didn't hurt anybody. :)

The Ruskies shutout streak reaches 6 straight matches.
Great match, my keeper got a little banged up though.
Texas Miracle - Ruskies 0 - 1
Date: 1/30/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 4961086
Arena: Texas Miracle Arena
Crowd: 559
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 559 to Texas Miracle Arena. Miracle had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Rendahl - Reguero, Khan, Medrano, Goode - Kenyon, Staley, Upchurch, Foley, Amaya - Gaffney.
Ruskies had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Sanderson - Singh, Sharp, Hirsch, Swenson - Kapur, Payne, Holmes, Daugherty, Randolph - Hinton.
Victor Kenyon managed to make an excellent pass from the flank, but Manuel Amaya was not as skillfull in scoring. A tad of inexperience caused Lewis Khan to make a difficult dribble close to dangerous opponent Jason Singh who took opportunitt by scoring 0-1. After 11 minutes Will Foley got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn´t get the shot away. 0 - 1 was the half-time score. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Miracle, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Miracle´s Will Foley got himself booked. Joe Gaffney made a superb strike at the goal in the 63rd minute with a long shot coming in from straight in front of the goal, but one of the visitors defenders got a foot in and warded it off to a corner. In the 64:th minute Miracles Manuel Amaya received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Ruskies were forced to a substitution as Cedric Sanderson couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment. Miracles Marlin Medrano got himself booked after a foul. Ruskies held the ball, with a clear 53 percent possession rate.
Miracle´s best player was Peter Rendahl. Dave Goode was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Ruskies player was without a doubt Aghaghna Kapur. Paul Holmes on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 1.
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 852 to Will Brown Arena. Sidekicks had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Luginbühl - Connor, Johnson, Thomasson, Thompson - Needham, Rossi, Andersson, Stensson, Valijero - Tuvin.
Galesburg tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Thomas - Schrader, Andres Alvaro, Valadez - Maddox, Hammond, Matson, Poulin, Croom-Carter - Mosley, Street.
One of many good passes from Danél Valijero at the wing was recieved and skillfully taken care of by Patrik Tuvin, scoring for Sidekicks to 1 - 0. After an industrious effort down the middle Donald Thompson could have closed the game off in the 20:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Sidekicks´s Patrik Tuvin putting the lead up to 2 - 0. Conny Stensson increased Sidekickss lead to 3 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. The structure of the game started to change as Sidekicks decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Patrik Tuvin squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 33rd minute, asserting the lead to 4 - 0. At that, Patrik Tuvin was noted down for a hat trick. Sidekicks appeared unsure on how to play. The teams went for a half-time break at 4 - 0. Sidekicks held the ball, with a clear 64 percent possession rate.
During the break Sidekicks´s coach went through the teams new tactics yet again. Patrik Tuvin increased Sidekickss lead to 5 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. Sidekicks seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. Sidekicks put their lead ahead another goal as Göran Andersson struck home the 6 - 0 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. With 77 minutes played Patrik Tuvin could have brought this one home for Sidekicks, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Sidekicks lead up with 7 - 0. Conny Stensson finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Galesburg´s Daryl Mosley got himself booked. Sidekicks, bringing the final ball possession rate to 78 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating Sidekicks player was without a doubt Jan Thomasson. Ned Connor was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Galesburg player was without a doubt Daryl Mosley. Paofai Croom-Carter was a disappointment, however. The match ends 7 - 0.

Mokan Mighty Bastards at Scranton Slime
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 357 at Scranton Slime Arena today. Scranton started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Zuazo - Beckham, Cortez, Morris, Burnette - Mohan, Javier, Ghafouri-Shiraz, Olivas - Hanley, Hardin.
Bastards had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Thompson - Olson, Tidwell, Frank - Poindexter, Roe, Rice, Tobias, Dixon - Sa, Se-On.
Paul Tobias received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 19:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. In the 23rd minute the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending and Danny Sa put the ball away for 0 - 1. Qiu Se-On came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Ruperto Zuazo, hitting the bar. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 1. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Bastards, with an impressive 60 percent possession of the ball.
The away team´s Danny Sa took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 47:th minute increasing Bastards´s lead to 0 - 2. Corey Roe increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. By now Bastards were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Danny Sa of Bastards received a yellow card in the 72nd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Bastards had, after 72 minutes of the game, worked the left side industriously, creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but somehow didn´t achieve closure. Nelson Poindexter came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Ruperto Zuazo, hitting the bar. The game was close to savage at times, and Bastards`s Danny Sa received a second yellow card in the 88:th, his ticket out of the game. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Bastards, with an impressive 75 percent possession of the ball.
The most dominating Scranton player was without a doubt Ruperto Zuazo. Waylon Burnette on the other hand, had a terrible day. Bastards´s best player was Jason Thompson. Qiu Se-On on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 3.

333 spectators had found their way to Midwest Ice Storm FC Arena, despite the heavy rain. Midwest had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Lineup: Tsau-Wun - Zarzalejos, Webb, Mayberry, Latham - Kin-Ming, Gorman, Taylor, Gunderson, Najeeb - Crook.
Oklahoma had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Greenwood - Turner, Morris, Montolío, Ratana - Pratt, Barnett, Cummings, Emmons - Shelton, Swain.
Midwest´s Roger Latham left the field after 11 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Ray Salisbury. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit Michael Webb just fine. Midwest tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but kept getting stuck on the visitors defenders. 39 minutes into the game a free kick combination hooked into the box almost resulted in the home team taking the lead, but the last header went wide. The referee showed Midwests George Taylor the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 0 - 0 was the half-time score. Midwest, bringing the final ball possession rate to 58 percent, dominated the battle.
Joe Morris behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 52nd minute as he gave the ball away to an opponent. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Midwest made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in from the right hand side left Ding Kin-Ming completely alone with keeper Ted Greenwood, who made a spectacular block. Midwest tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but kept getting stuck on the visitors defenders. Almost all the way down to the corner flag Alpesh Najeeb somhow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Ding Kin-Ming who struck for 1 - 0. Midwests Ding Kin-Ming got himself booked after a foul. Midwest's Hud Gunderson scored 2 - 0 by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent goalie no other option than to pick up the ball from the net. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 78 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Midwest. However, Ted Greenwood made a spectacular save. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Midwest, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.
The most dominating Midwest player was without a doubt Michael Webb. Ray Salisbury on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Oklahoma player was without a doubt Jacob Cummings. Howard Emmons on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 0.

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Ebbets Field West saw a crowd turnout of 384.
Calibiri had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Santana - Duvall, Sprague, Mieres, Jones - Kezman, McMullen, McDonough, Irving - McKiddie, Veres.
Condors had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Gardner - Stanley, Byers, Holm - Stephens, Pierson, Dillard, Herrington, Patton - Roby, Whaley.
Calibiri took the lead in the 7:th minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Cãtãlin Veres elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. After an industrious effort down the middle Colt McDonough could have closed the game off in the 31st minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Aleksandar Kezman squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 34:th minute, asserting the lead to 2 - 0. 2 - 0 was the half-time score. Calibiri held the ball, with a clear 59 percent possession rate.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Cãtãlin Veres squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 48:th minute, asserting the lead to 3 - 0. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 51 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Calibiri. Jared Irving finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. The_herd, youre going to have to schedule another game at this point. I think Fonzie who just joined may need one. If mrushh can get his team back then you can play the 2nd leg again, because after this round assuming Gargoyles or Seamen advance, the Cup goes on a break for a few weeks because of their playing in the Windy City Cup which is what we did last season.

Damn I kee forgetting how many new teams we have, so I will explain.
Back in September we formed the FOFC federation. Dataking, Aylmar and Ravenhawk joined when I formed it. Back then we had the minimum number to actually have a fed which is 5 (ardent, 3ric and I were the other ones). Anyways, ardent and I floated the idea around of a tournament (Cup) for this board.
Well aylmar, ravenhawk and dataking were already members of the chicagoland federation and they had their own cup already in progress which is the Windy City Cup.
So last season we went all single-elimination, finished a couple of rounds (how many teams did we have 12?) and then took a break because those 3 started their Windy City Cup. When they got eliminated we started up the FOFC Cup again. Thats basically whats happening here again if ravenhawk or dataking advance. Dataking will keep us posted on whats going on from their end when they get eliminated or win the Chicago Cup.
This shouldnt interfere at all with the consolation bracket at all, it will go as planned. This really affects the teams that advance this round.
Hope that makes sense, dataking will fill in the blanks if I missed something.

Any thoughts on when the consolation round will begin?
DataKing

I think HornedFrog Purple pretty much covered the basics. A couple of other notes regarding the Windy City Cup:
1. Play is slated to begin February 12th, a week from Wednesday.
2. The first round of the WCC is Group Play, similar to the world cup. So RavenHawk and I will have our friendly matches occupied for at least three weeks, longer if we advance. After the initial group play, it's all single elimination.
I hope this helps clear things up. If it got to the point where we had to resume the FOFC Cup to finish before the end of the season, and I was still in the Windy City Cup, then I would probably step down from the FOFC Cup. Hopefully that will not happen.
Let me know if there are any other questions.

We're taking at least three weeks off from the regular FOFC Cup. However, unless I am mistaken the consolation cup will proceed as planned.

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and The Trailer Park saw a crowd turnout of 251. Oklahoma had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Greenwood - Turner, Morris, Montolío, Ratana - Pratt, Harris, Barnett, Emmons - Cummings, Swain.
Midwest had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Tsau-Wun - Zarzalejos, Webb, Mayberry, Najeeb - Kin-Ming, Gorman, Taylor, Gunderson, Dejesus - Crook.
Seemingly due to lack of experience, Joe Morris needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 in the 17:th by a breakthrough from Lucas Montolío, who unaided came in out of the right wing hooking the ball over the visitors keeper. In the games 23rd minute Midwest´s Loren Dejesus fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Loren Dejesus for taking a dive. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 0. Midwest, bringing the final ball possession rate to 64 percent, dominated the battle.
Oklahomas Baroma Ratana got himself booked after a foul. The Midwest player was Juan Luis Zarzalejos who had to be helped off the pitch, unable to finish the game. Visitors Jeffrey Crook was alert on a play coming in from the left, making the score a tie at 1 - 1 in the 75:th minute. In the 76:th minute the excellent ball from the wing byLoren Dejesus reached Jeffrey Crook's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 1 - 2. The away team´s Jeffrey Crook took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 80:th minute increasing Midwest´s lead to 1 - 3. By then Jeffrey Crook was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Michael Webb could have put his team up another one in the 81st minute, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. The game had been on for 83 minutes when Hud Gunderson broke through to the right, upping the score to the home crowd´s dismay. Midwest´s were up 1 - 4. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Midwest, with an impressive 71 percent possession of the ball.
Most important Oklahoma player was Jacob Cummings. John Harris was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Midwest player was without a doubt He Tsau-Wun. Ray Salisbury on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.
I was pretty worried for a while when you were up 3-1, but then Helga must have had a talk with the guys. Something about postgame rewards:D

Scranton Slime @ MoKan Mighty Bastards - 2nd Round Game 2
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 743 at MoKan Mighty Bastards Arena today. Bastards had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Macon - Olson, Tobias, Frank - Poindexter, Roe, Rice, Se-On, Phillips - Tidwell, Sa.
Scranton had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Zuazo - Beckham, Catincã, Morris, Cortez - Mayberry, Burnette, Javier, Mohan - Dobbins, Hardin.
In the 18:th minute the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as Mark Olson flipped the ball after a cross pass from the right. Paul Tobias behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 30:th minute as he gave the ball away to an opponent. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Daryl Frank should probably have put his team up another goal in the 32nd minute, but some great goaltending by Ruperto Zuazo kept the visitors in the game. Danny Sa of Bastards received a yellow card in the 32nd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Bastards lead up with 2 - 0. Danny Sa finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. The structure of the game started to change as Bastards decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Bastards´s Wilbur Tidwell refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon in the 37:th minute. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Bastards held the ball, with a clear 69 percent possession rate.
The referee showed Scrantons Larry Mayberry the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Bastards's Wilbur Tidwell scored 3 - 0 by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent goalie no other option than to pick up the ball from the net. After an industrious effort down the middle Mark Olson could have closed the game off in the 72nd minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Bastards´s Danny Sa had an excellent opportunity in the 77:th minute, shooting on a through ball, but he missed the goal by miles! Bastards held the ball, with a clear 78 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Bastards player was without a doubt Albert Macon. Wilbur Tidwell on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Scranton player was without a doubt Ruperto Zuazo. Timothy Dobbins was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
Finally, I get some real competition!

Hrm... is the 2-5-3 considered a "valid" formation? Did you just give up your training for the week?
A scorching day at The Concrete Jungle, where 2237 spectators were in place for today´s match. Gargoyles tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: South - Crews, Jernigan, Payne - Höstman, MacMorran, García-Atance, Black - Simpkins, Clements, Orkola.
Bananskruv tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Mörnbratt - Robertsson, Norsjö, Engen - Magnusson, Olsson, Matsson, Stensson, Roca Paradis - Ångerberg, Martinsson.
Jame Jernigan gave his Gargoyles the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. In the 20:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Virgil Clements dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Gargoyles. After 21 minutes Christian Höstman put Gargoyles ahead 3 - 0 as he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. Gargoyless Aaron Crews got himself booked after a foul. Gargoyles put themselves up 4 - 0 when Clint Simpkins broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. After this Gargoyles lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Bananskruv´s Kent 'Frop' Ångerberg got himself booked. Carlos García-Atance increased Gargoyless lead to 5 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. In the 32nd minute Bananskruvs Bo Olsson received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Earle South the unlucky victim, couldn´t continue the game. 5 - 0 was the half-time score. Gargoyles held the ball, with a clear 57 percent possession rate.
Bananskruv had a good opportunity to reduce the score in the 52nd minute, breathing new life into the game, but the home side´s defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long range shot coming in from the left, rebounding off the In the 70:th minute Gargoyles put themselves up 6 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Virgil Clements coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. Clint Simpkins almost managed to score another goal for Gargoyles, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. Several players now looked tired, especially Aaron Crews who quite horribly caused the 6 - 1 goal as he lost the ball to Bo Olsson of Bananskruv, who seemed to have some energy left. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Gargoyles lead up with 7 - 1. Aaron Crews finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. In the games 83rd minute Bananskruv´s Daniel Engen fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Daniel Engen for taking a dive. After 86 minutes Bananskruv´s Daniel Engen contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Gargoyles, bringing the final ball possession rate to 62 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating Gargoyles player was without a doubt Aaron Crews. However, Virgil Clements made a disastrous appearance. Most important Bananskruv player was Andreas Stensson. Fredrik Robertsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 7 - 1.
Ouch.

Do really think you'll need luck? I mean I have only had my team since December, there is really only so much I can do. I am just hoping that its not like 6-0 or some thing like that. OR
I could try and pull off a huge upset, there's always the possibility!
sadly no, I think that my chances may be a little better than Vietnam has against Brazil.
Well, it's not going to be for a few more weeks, and typically, my B team is terrible. If you read up on me, you'll know I usually sell my top backups to supplement my income. That usually leaves me with terrible players at everything but forward, which is the position I train.
So, that said, and looking at the past couple of scores against FOFC teams, I would definitely say you have a solid chance against me.

North County Raiders - Midwest Ice Storm FC 1 - 6
Date: 3/13/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5097259
Arena: North County Raiders Arena
Crowd: 963
Due to an all-day shower, 963 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at North County Raiders Arena. Raiders started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Penn - Evans, Anderson, Tripp - Castle, Fernandez, Kennedy, Dailey - Brown, Vang, Vien-Van.
Midwest tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Tsau-Wun - Norman, Webb, Mayberry - Dejesus, Gorman, Salisbury, Gunderson, Crook - Najeeb, Taylor.
Alpesh Najeeb came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 11th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Trevor Penn managed to tip the ball to a corner. After 35 minutes Midwest´s Loren Dejesus contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Midwest´s Alpesh Najeeb gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead in the 40:th minute with a superb strike from the right. The referee showed Raiderss William Vang the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,Neil Norman spent some on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. With clinical precision the cross pass from winger Jeffrey Crook found it's way to George Taylor's head, and a screaming header gave Midwest 0 - 2. Midwest´s Jeffrey Crook received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 44:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 3. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. Martin Evans of Raiders received a yellow card in the 44:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Neil Norman received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 44:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. In the 45:th minute Lim Vien-Van passed through the guests central line of defense, scoring the 1 - 3 goal. After 45 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Neil Norman who increased Midwest´s lead to 1 - 4. Halftime score was 1 - 4. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Midwest, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.
The away team´s Stephen Mayberry took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 49:th minute increasing Midwest´s lead to 1 - 5. George Taylor was, after 61 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors lead with a well placed diving header but home side keeper Trevor Penn saved. Loren Dejesus came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Trevor Penn, hitting the bar. The away team´s Jeffrey Crook took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 69:th minute increasing Midwest´s lead to 1 - 6. After this Midwest lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Midwest, bringing the final ball possession rate to 62 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating Raiders player was without a doubt Dan Fernandez. Michael Dailey on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Midwest player was without a doubt Alpesh Najeeb. Neil Norman on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 6.

NE Oklahoma Sidekicks @ MoKan Mighty Bastards
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 902 at MoKan Mighty Bastards Arena today. Bastards started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Thompson - Olson, Tidwell, Frank - Poindexter, Roe, Rice, Se-On, Phillips - Currier, Sa.
Sidekicks had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Gill - Stclair, Bodnar, Andersen - Garrison, Connor, Anduaga, Serin, Wilson - Tuvin, Kirkpatrick.
Bastards were very close to putting themselves one up in the 6:th minute as Qiu Se-On got through, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a 12th minute goal by Neal Rice for Bastards, putting them ahead 1 - 0. Mark Olson of Bastards received a yellow card in the 26:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Bastards lead up with 2 - 0. Nelson Poindexter finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. In the 32nd minute Sidekickss Irfan Serin received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Marco Andersen behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 36:th minute as he gave the ball away to an opponent. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. After 38 minutes Nelson Poindexter put Bastards ahead 3 - 0 as he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. Halftime score was 3 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Bastards, with an impressive 72 percent possession of the ball.
After an industrious effort down the middle Nelson Poindexter could have closed the game off in the 71st minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Bastards´s Danny Sa putting the lead up to 4 - 0. Bastards put their lead ahead another goal as Chris Currier struck home the 5 - 0 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. The structure of the game started to change as Bastards decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. After 85 minutes Danny Sa put Bastards ahead 6 - 0 as he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. The referee showed Sidekickss Marco Andersen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Bastards made a substitution in the 85:th minute. Nelson Poindexter limped off the field and was replaced by Dan Singh. Bastards held the ball, with a clear 84 percent possession rate.
Most important Bastards player was Neal Rice. Daryl Frank on the other hand, had a terrible day. Sidekicks´s best player was Patrik Tuvin. Julius Stclair on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 6 - 0.

Gargoyles - Calibiri 3 - 2
Date: 3/13/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5094670
Arena: The Concrete Jungle
Crowd: 707
707 spectators had found their way to The Concrete Jungle, despite the heavy rain. Gargoyles had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Kullenhult - Grøva, Jernigan, Payne - Höstman, MacMorran, García-Atance, Ekmo - Salter, Dunn, Bentley.
Calibiri had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Santana - Duvall, Parham, Odell - Larkin, Mcmullen, Mcdonough, Nuez, Galloway - Veres, Beckbom.
Speedy Christian Höstman dashed past his markers after 10 minutes, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, Lindsey Bentley failed to score. A mistake by the home sides central defence in the 20:th minute allowed Tobias Beckbom to score 0 - 1 for Calibiri. The visitors Cãtãlin Veres took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and full backs in the 26:th minute. 0 - 2 for Calibiri. The structure of the game started to change as Calibiri decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Gargoyles, bringing the final ball possession rate to 55 percent, dominated the battle.
Gargoyles reduced the score in the 69:th minute to 1 - 2 when Tony Salter got the best of a ball floated in from the left. With a shot floated in from just outside the penalty area in the 73rd minute, Tony Salter of Gargoyles evened the score to 2 - 2. 74 minutes into the game Garrett Odell had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Ivan Crawford. Gargoyles held the ball, with a clear 68 percent possession rate.
Not having decided a winner at full-time, the match went into extra time. One of many good passes from Karl Ekmo at the wing was recieved and skillfully taken care of by Neal Dunn, scoring for Gargoyles to 3 - 2. With that Gargoyles had won the game in extra time. The most dominating Gargoyles player was without a doubt Neal Dunn. Arne Grøva on the other hand, had a terrible day. Calibiri´s best player was Bob Duvall. However, Mitchell Parham made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 2.

Ice Storm have accepted the Bastard offer, and are excited to see the first teamers in action. The last time we played it was the reserves, this time the starters will wage war. I just hope my team can stay healthy too. Got about 4 guys injured right now. And I have the division championship game on the line on sunday. I figure about a 20% chance to win, and if I win automatic promotion for me.
Although, It would be nice to go into next year as a big favorite and really get a chance to develop the team some more.

I posted this in the other thread, but I figured it would get more of a response here. For next year's FOFC Cup, do you want to set it up regionally early, have like an East Bracket, South/International, Midwest and West brackets based on geography? That way you could have regional champions as well as an overall FOFC winner. What do you think of that?

Vex,
Sadly I don't think I'll be winning, lol. Either I'll get Iced or Gargoyled depending on who wants to beat the bujesus out of my starters first, lol. Either way, I'll make 'em pay in the spirit of competition and aggressive play, lol. I'm going to have to borrow a couple of your head knockers though.

Although I appreciate that my team is feared, I wouldn't get too down about any team's chances against me. I just came off of a hellish season where I had to fight tooth and nail just to get third place. Apparently, according to the 'stars are evil' rating my division, IV.19, is the 22nd toughest division in the USA. That means that as a full division it is tougher than 15 of the 32 Div III divisions. We have been beating each other up all season.
I wouldn't count yourselves out yet. Or perhaps I'm bluffing . . .
It's possible, pig. The only reason that I'm laying here is because I lack the strenght to stand. But then again . . .

As far as the threats of injury, the last team I played had to have 2 carried off on a stetcher. Two can play that game.

Gargoyles vs. Ruskies
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1127 to The Concrete Jungle. Gargoyles started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Lineup: Agustin - Black, Dehlbratt, Olesen - Sørli , Newsom, Mccormick, Ekmo - García-Atance, Orkola, Bentley.
Ruskies had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Lineup: Sanderson - Swenson, Sharp, Hirsch, Khaira - Kapur, Payne, Hinton, Vogt, Ingesson - Daugherty.
In the games 28:th minute Gargoyles´s Terje Sørli fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Terje Sørli for taking a dive. In the 29:th minute Jukka Orkola almost put the home team one ahead on a cross pass coming in from the right, but the shot went wide. Many thought Keith Mccormick ought to have been awarded a penalty shot in the 32nd minute, as he went down trying to circle the visitors keeper Cedric Sanderson. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Gargoyles, with an impressive 51 percent possession of the ball.
After a fine move down the middle Jukka Orkola nearly gave the home side one up in the 49:th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. In the games 55:th minute Gargoyles´s Carlos García-Atance fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Carlos García-Atance for taking a dive. Ruskies had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team goaltender Francisco Javie Agustin saved Stacy Hirsch´s shot headed for the top corner. Keith Mccormick of Gargoyles received a yellow card in the 65:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A header from Mark Khaira connected with a corner kick after 68 minutes, and the ball ended up with Wally Sharp of Ruskies who shot the 0-1 goal. Roy Payne seemed to be floating in the air at will as he elegantly headed in 0-2. The previous Ruskies corner kick was executed by Jim Daugherty. Jukka Orkola almost put the reducer away having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Lindsey Bentley challenged the visitors full backs eagerly, producing a good chance in the 70:th minute as he went for a through ball combination. But as so many times before, the guest´s defensive efforts got the best of it. Gargoyles, bringing the final ball possession rate to 57 percent, dominated the battle.
Gargoyles´s best player was Daniel Newsom. Carlos García-Atance was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Ruskies player was without a doubt Roy Payne. However, Stuart Swenson made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 2.

MoKan Mighty Bastards - Midwest Ice Storm FC 7 - 6
Date: 3/20/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5116494
Arena: MoKan Mighty Bastards Arena
Crowd: 460
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 460 at MoKan Mighty Bastards Arena today. Bastards tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. They fielded: Thompson - Olson, Tidwell, Tobias, Frank - Poindexter, Roe, Rice, Se-On, Phillips - Sa.
Midwest started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Tsau-Wun - Webb, Coulter, Zarzalejos - Dejesus, Gorman, Salisbury, Gunderson, Crook - Najeeb, Taylor.
The 6:th minute saw the home team take a 1 - 0 lead after a leak in the visitors right side defense. Scorer for Bastards was Neal Rice. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Midwest´s Ray Salisbury got himself booked. In the games 12th minute Bastards´s Danny Sa fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Danny Sa for taking a dive. Danny Sa increased Bastardss lead to 2 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. Midwest showed some good morale and were, in the 21st minute, able to reduce the score to 2 - 1 as George Taylor got past the home sides full backs straight in front of the goal. 21 minutes into the game Daryl Frank had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came José Antonio Fernández Le Gal. 2 - 1 was the half-time score. Bastards, bringing the final ball possession rate to 59 percent, dominated the battle.
Corey Roe increased Bastardss lead to 3 - 1 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. The structure of the game started to change as Bastards decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Qiu Se-On received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 62nd minute and almost caused an opponent to score. The away team reduced the score to 3 - 2, as Alpesh Najeeb struck home, set up well by a play from the left in the 75:th minute. Jeffrey Crook sailed high, high above the opponents as he headed the 3-3 in after a corner kick after 80 minutes of play. After a fine move down the middle Neal Rice nearly gave the home side one up in the 81st minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. In the games 84:th minute Alpesh Najeeb almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a spectacular scissors shot just past the bar. When Ray Salisbury made yet another studs first tackle, in the games 84th minute, the referee was obliged to book the Midwest player for the second time, sending him off the pitch. The Bastards player was José Antonio Fernández Le Gal who had to be helped off the pitch, unable to finish the game. The bicycle kick from Nelson Poindexter would have been the Goal of the Year, had it not hit the posts. Midwest had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team goaltender Jason Thompson saved Alpesh Najeeb´s shot headed for the top corner. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Bastards, with an impressive 71 percent possession of the ball.
After the regular 90 minutes, the agonizing of overtime followed. After overtime the game was still at a tie, and a penalty contest ensued. Bastards´s Neal Rice cooly put the ball past He Tsau-Wun. 4 - 3. Midwest´s Reggie Gorman cooly put the ball past Jason Thompson. 4 - 4. Bastards´s Wilbur Tidwell hesitated a long time before shooting a penalty going just wide of the left post. Still 4 - 4. Midwest´s Michael Webb penalty shot was very well placed but Jason Thompson went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 4 - 4. Bastards´s Danny Sa, obviously having last minute doubt´s, produced a loose ball to the right post. Unfortunately He Tsau-Wun made a premature move to the left and didn´t make it back. New score 5 - 4. Midwest´s George Taylor made no mistake. Jason Thompson didn´t have a chance. 5 - 5. Bastards´s Mark Olson didn´t hesitate but He Tsau-Wun managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 5 - 5 score. Midwest´s Juan Luis Zarzalejos hesitated a long time before shooting a penalty going just wide of the left post. Still 5 - 5. Bastards´s Benny Phillips cooly put the ball past He Tsau-Wun. 6 - 5. Midwest´s Hud Gunderson cooly put the ball past Jason Thompson. 6 - 6. Bastards´s Qiu Se-On, obviously having last minute doubt´s, produced a loose ball to the right post. Unfortunately He Tsau-Wun made a premature move to the left and didn´t make it back. New score 7 - 6. Midwest´s Alpesh Najeeb was seemingly taken by the gravity of the moment, producing a badly laid penalty, blocked by Jason Thompson. Score still 7 - 6. Most important Bastards player was Neal Rice. Dan Singh on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Midwest player was without a doubt Alpesh Najeeb. Juan Luis Zarzalejos on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 7 - 6.
Bitter dissapointment.....bitter....bitter...bitter.

Right now he is one of the best players on the team...but I do intend to show him that if he would have been in a little bit better shape he would have put that goal away in the closing minutes of the game.
His response was that the Mighty MoKan cheeleaders had 'serviced' him a little to much the night before. We talked and he has to aplologize to the team and he has to promise to keep his 'servicings' to two a night before big games. He said he could try. I follwed with the threat that he may not see any action in the next cup as the 'b' team may get all the work.

Ruskies @ MoKan Mighty Bastards
Date: 3/27/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 5142118
Arena: MoKan Mighty Bastards Arena
Crowd:
Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and MoKan Mighty Bastards Arena saw a crowd turnout of 755. Bastards had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Thompson - Olson, Tidwell, Tobias, Fernández Le Gal - Poindexter, Roe, Rice, Se-On, Phillips - Sa.
Ruskies had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Sanderson - Swenson, Sharp, Hirsch, Khaira - Kapur, Payne, Hinton, Vogt, Ingesson - Daugherty.
21 minutes into the game Jim Daugherty was a hair´s breadth away from giving Ruskies the lead. A prompt block by Jason Thompson saved the home team that time. Bastards had to manage with a reduced squad from the 24:th minute on, as Benny Phillips got sent off for a foul in a free situation. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 0. Bastards held the ball, with a clear 63 percent possession rate.
In the 54:th minute Ruskiess Mark Khaira received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Bastardss Qiu Se-On gave, after 55 minutes, the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. With 60 minutes played Neal Rice could have brought this one home for Bastards, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. The referee showed Ruskiess Stuart Swenson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In the game's 69:th minute Bastards´s Nelson Poindexter limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 78 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Bastards. However, Cedric Sanderson made a spectacular save. A great save by goaltender Cedric Sanderson in the 84:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Danny Sa struck from the left with a real cannonball. Bastards will have to do without Nelson Poindexter for a time due to a bad foot injury. He was substituted by Ali Dixon. Bastards held the ball, with a clear 69 percent possession rate.
The most dominating Bastards player was without a doubt Neal Rice. Ali Dixon was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Ruskies player was without a doubt Roy Payne. Stuart Swenson on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 0.

Yeah, the Ruskies surprising run comes to an end. All the away matches caught up with us after playing 3 straight teams clearly better than us.
I would like to say thanks to everyone that participated in this cup, it was really fun to be a part of, and with FOFC Cup III coming up, hopefully some home matches can carry us at least close to this level of achievment.
And finally, congrats to meanstrosity, you clearly outplayed us, and you are very deserving.

Thanks Herd. That was a hell of an effort. I don't know that my squad could have played that well on the road like you guys did.
And again, thanks to the entire FOFC community for organizing and allowing me to participate in this. It's always fun and more interesting than league matches, lol.
Now it's onto FOFC Cup v 3.0. So many great clubs...and too many damn players to injure, lol.

Congratulations all around on a great cup, especially to the Mighty Bastards. Good show all around.
The Screamin' Seamen are already looking forward to FOFC Cup III (although it is a couple of months off, most likely).
