Also known as the No D bowl! Northwestern is 117th in total D, UCLA is 111th.
Should be a fun game. The Northwestern Coach had a funny comment about his punter. "If you are going to hang a punt for just 3.2 seconds, you better get ready to tackle Mo Drew"

Tackling and D just as bad as normal for UCLA

I had briefly considered taking today off. This game was one reason. I like defense, but sometimes a high scoring shootout is hard to pass up. Occassional updates this afternoon would be nice, thanks.

What the fuck was that Drew? 3 INT's all year and you throw one to the DL?!?

How is UCLA not better than they are as a football program? Location, facilities, academics, all top notch.. not to mention the eye candy.
-- To clarify, I'm not saying they should be exactly on par with USC's program right now, but why isn't UCLA on the level of a VA Tech, Georgia, etc., right now.

They are cheap and the AD wants UCLA to be more like Stanford then USC
And another pick

Positive thing for UCLA is that they are playing NW's Defense.. There will be plenty of chances to get back in the game for the West Coasters.

Check that, the UC-LA's can't fall too far behind though. 22-Zip, 10 minutes in.

Well, it looks like so long as UCLA doesn't have to throw the football, they have a shot at this one. What's up with Olson today?

Nothing's up with him. You clearly don't understand just how sophisticated these Pac-10 offenses are. I'm sure it's part of their glorious strategy.

That was a awful pass by the NW QB, on that pick. Looked like a High School JV throw.
This should be a very interesting game though.

I'd say it turned out pretty interesting! 29-22 UCLA leading at the half!

What happened to the O? Only 7-3 in the second half, with 4:00 minutes to go.

Well, UCLA is making this interesting with stupid penalties..

Also known as the No D bowl!
Hey, careful now. We just had that bowl on Tuesday:
The 1,211 combined yards by Rutgers (532) and Arizona State (679) at the Insight Bowl are an NCAA bowl-game record. The previous record was 1,158 yards by Hawaii and Houston at the 2003 Hawaii Bowl.

Or what's the record for pass attempts in a loss? I thought the last graphic showed Basanez had 71.

Has this onside kick method ever been attempted...
Kick a low line drive as hard as possible, right at one of the opposing players and hope for a ricochet off of the hands/pads.. It may work..... but it also may miss everyone and go flying out of bounds.

One thing is for sure, Texas wants no part of UCLA after the last two times they faced each other. I have the 97 game on tape if you'd like to watch.

I sat through that entire game in the horseshoe with a girl I met on Sixth Street the night before, and I couldn't leave because I said something to her and her friends about staying for the whole game regardless of the outcome, since the Horns were ranked tenth in the country and UCLA was supposed to be crummy.
At least she was hot.

66-3 over #6 Texas. I remember turning on the TV and seeing UCLA up 17-3 and thinking it was a mistake
It really has no relevance but if someone is going to be an ass, I'll be one too :)
