Feb. 4 2007, South Florida, Dolphins Stadium.

My girlfriend and I were thinking about having a 1-week trip and watching the Superbowl live. Now, I briefly checked the SB and NFL sites but I didn't find anything specific (I admit I haven't searched a lot...). I'm sure some of you guys can point me in the right direction, giving the fact that I really don't know how to start.

First question: am I already late?

In the NFL games that they stream here in Italy, the commentators have said a couple of times that for the Superbowl, you gotta move at least 1 year in advance. Is that enough?

And just for having an idea, what could be the price of a "Superbowl week"?

Any infos on getting tickets, booking hotels and even "complete packages" would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot guys.

There are always tickets available, it just depends on how much do you want to pay for them. You can even get tickets on the day of the game. So it is never too late. However, if you are looking to get tickets at face value, it is a lottery system to determine who gets to buy them. Only a small number of tickets are sold to the general public. The majority of the tickets go to the teams themselves and the corporate sponsors of the Super Bowl.

There are plenty of places that offer hotel and ticket packages. The usual rate for them is in the $1500 to $2500 per person range. I haven't heard of any European tour operators that put together air/hotel/ticket packages, but I would not be surprised if there were some who did offer this.

Hey thanks Greg! Very good infos.

So, do you think it would be possible to buy one of these packages (week in hotel/tickets) directly from the US? Obviously I should find some very reliable agency. I could buy only tickets for the flight then.

Do anyone have some links/infos about these kind of packages? Just to have an idea...

Anyway, I think I have to write an e-mail directly to Sky TV (the channel that streams games in Italy) asking for more informations. They should be able to point me to something, or give me some advice.

Usually they have the information you need at SuperBowl.com or NFL.com. I believe there is a window in which you send a postcard to the NFL for tickets. You can only enter once. They take all entries and draw so many names. You than have the option to purchase two tickets at face value. I believe they send you an invoice around October. Last time I entered tickets were $500 each.

There have been occasions where tickets have sold at or below face value. That happened in 2002, when terrorism fears forced ticket prices down.

If I can find the link I'll post it. Need to send an entry again this year.

No listing let for SB XLI tickets. Here is the info from SB XL:

How can I buy Super Bowl tickets?

The only method the NFL has to distribute tickets to the public is through a random drawing. There is no other way for the general public to purchase tickets. The NFL does not sell tickets to travel or ticket agents.

Entries for the random drawing are accepted between Feb. 1 and June 1 of the year preceding the game in question.

No more entries for Super Bowl XL, to be played Feb. 5, 2006 in Detroit, Michigan will be accepted. The June 1 deadline has passed.

Those selected in the random drawing will have the opportunity to purchase two tickets.

Additional information:

* 1000 Tickets (500 pairs) will be made available for purchase
* Ticket prices -TBD- 2005 pricing: $500 and $600
* Notification of winners in mid-October

I read that as a snowball's chance in hell. Sounds like it would be better to plan ahead for a week in South Florida but watch the game at a great sportsbar.

Will Mike Tice be getting tickets?
