1. Bring back Dick Jauron and see what he can do for a full season. Reasons for this are:
a) He was coach of the year in Chicago in 2001. Having spent time there
listening to Chicago sport-talk radio, things went south for Jauron
when the McCaskey family decided to end nepotism and replaced the
family memeber GM with a different one, who just did not like Jauron.

b) Really do not want to go thru all the hype-hoopla crap one more time
...bar is high...we're building something good here....put it all to rest
with a low-profile turnover just this one time. Please.

c) Jauron is highly respected among the players and they will play hard
for him. Witness the Pittsburg game. Pittsburg had everything to
play for, the Lions nothing, and yet if not for the Lions special teams
game could easily have gone for Detroit. This can be fixed alot easier
than making whole-sale changes.

d) Scouts say Joey Harrington is not the same QB that he was at
Oregon because he has been so badly mishandled. Marriucci's 1980s
version of the West (Nile) Coast offense was Pop Warner level (John
Madden said so!) and a complete misfit for Harrington's downfield
talents and strong arm. Let Joey be Joey for a year and see what
happens. We don't need any more has-been QBs anymore. Joey will
be a star if Detroit can swallow its pride and give him a chance. Let
Bill Parcell's be the one to continue to collect the fossilized QBs.

I simmed through the 2006-07 season on Maximum Football using a Dick Jauron-style playbook and the Lions won the Super Bowl!!!

You do realize that Pittsburgh is going to crush the Bengals this weekend, right?

It is kind of funny that the Steelers are favored by 3 in Cincy.

They were favored a few weeks back at Heinz as well. We'll see.

The Lions should be fine, they just need to find a good WR in the draft.

I think the Steelers are nicely positioned for another almost, but not quite, playoff run.

I'd be interested to see Steelers/Colts II.

The Colts handed it to the Steelers so hard on Monday Night, that you have to think that the Steelers would love a chance for some payback. And they would not come into the game cocky--that's for sure.

I think if it were going to be at Heinz, it would present an interesting match-up. I don't think the Steelers have the passing game to play with the Colts in a dome and Manning tends to burn blitzing defenses.

Is it just me or does this ever get old? I still laugh every time I hear a crack about the Lions and WRs. :D

It's not quite as funny as wondering who the Vikings will forget to draft in the first round this year.

Although Pittsburgh may be the favorite and all, I would REALLY love to see Cinci and Indy duke it out in the AFC Championship.. don't know if it will happen, but if Palmer is on and the defense gets even a couple stops, Cinci will win.

Problem is, Palmer has yet to be "on" against the Steelers this season.. I call it the "Curse of Polamalu"

This game will go a long way in determining the Bengals offseason moves.. Pittsburgh runs over them like in their first meeting, I think they go all out to sign, trade for, or draft a top flight DT. Although Shaun Smith has played well, they need someone else to add to that rotation. I keep thinking, if only they could have gotten Corey Simon.. If only..

Starting to like what I hear about Al Saunders. Might be best pick for Lions, he wanted Joey at KC. Disciplinarian, might be good fit all the way around.

Oh,yeah, how to correctly spell Pittsburgh? L O S E R S...get a real QB, your like Michigan in the 80s building a team to win the Big 10 and then falling apart in the Bowl Games.

Now, I haven't resided in the Burgh for a couple of years, but the idea of a Lions fan calling Pittsburgh losers - well, that's funny.

Detroit all time record:
480-530-32

Detroit's last Championship: 1957.

Keep talking Bubba.

Yes, well, Pittsburgh did win 4 Super Bowls, last one was when? Last Basketball Championship? Team? Season? Pirates, anyone? And as for Hockey, from what I hear Penguins won't even be there this time next year. So, yeah, enjoy your 80s football buzz, warm memories for a long winter. As for us Detroit losers, we'll just be watching some Pistons and Red Wings to stay warm.

I'm sorry, I thought you were whining about football this time. In baseball, the pirates have been a more successful franchise than the Tigers- in Football, the Steelers have been greater than the Lions, and Penguins, while not matching the Red Wings, have been a pretty darn good franchise.

Bubba, please tell me you root for the Cowboys and Dodgers as well - would make my fandom of the 49ers and the Giants so much sweeter. :D

Last Basketball Championship?

Pretty hard for Pittsburgh to do this, since it hasn't had a franchise since the early days of the ABA.

Well, truth be known, I'm kinda liking Buffalo more and more. Very similar to the Lions in many ways, including an owner Ralph Wilson who used to be a minority owner in the Lions before Ford bought him out.

Bills and Lions are tracking almost identical this season in many ways. Buffalo fans demonstrating against both GM and coach, young QB under fire for poor play, blue-collar hard-working snow-belt city someone described as 'the fat-lady of cities' in terms of tourist attractions.

Loving comparisons, some things have diverged already. Lions kept GM Millen, Bills fired Donahue and hired old coach Levy as GM. Both will probably get new coaches soon.

Very interesting difference in ownership. Wilson came out, apologized to fans for team's poor performance and...unbelievably...apologized for stadium security confiscating fan's signs critical of team. Said 'That is not how the Buffalo Bills do business!" I think the last time Ford talked to the media Walmart carried goods made in America.

Neither team has won the Super Bowl yet, but if Vegas was giving odds and I was a betting man the bucks would be on the Bills. And nice as Ford Field is, playing inside is for panzies. So I will be watching the paths of these two teams very closely.

Aside from the whole '4 Super Bowl appearances in the 90's thing'.
