I've glanced through some of the old threads, and I'm curious whether there's anybody on FOFC who still puts any kind of time into NWN.

I just picked up the Diamond edition, as I finally have a computer that'll run the game, and I've spent several hours acclimating myself to it in the last couple of days.

I don't know that I'm ready, exactly, to jump online.

I was curious, though - with Worlds of Warcraft out there, and (according to the old threads), NWN 2 at least nominally on the horizon...is there still any kind of an online following, or am I going to be best off gathering a party of a few friends who have the game once I'm ready to take the online plunge?

I bought the game a few months ago, but have never played online.

Avlis, in my opinion, has been the greatest online roleplaying experience, to the point where i every once in a while consider repurchasing NWN just to play it.

and it's free.

Avlis was a blast, but the lag was tough to handle. I just browsed the boards for a bit and didn't see the usual slew of "lag-fest" comments, so maybe things are better. Looks like they've got another beginner's area, which would be nice as well.

Avlis was my first online role-playing experience, and I didn't find it intimidating. People were quite helpful and understanding. Took me a bit to get the hang of always staying in character, but once I thought of it as acting in a play, things went fine. Highly recommended if you're curious.

I could be up for giving it another go, but it would have to be on a low-key, casual basis. I'd start another character from scratch, I think.

That could be cool.

I could probably reload the game as well. I would need to buy the latest expansion packs though.
