I'm reading an article in The Kansas City Star today and I stumble across this nugget about a new shopping center development in the metro:
Other announced eateries have included Chick-Fil-A, Chili’s, On the Border, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Starbucks, Coldstone Creamery and McAlister’s Deli.This is the greatest news ever. This place will be almost an hour from my house but only about 20 minutes from work, so I duck over there for lunch an back when needed.

Currently there's only one Chick-Fil-A in the metro, and that's on a campus of a JUCO in their student union, which just isn't the same. The closest REAL Chick-Fil-A is 75 miles away in Topeka -- and yes, I've been tempted to make the drive.

My life makes me sad.

Moe’s Southwest Grill and Coldstone Creamery are personal faves of mine. Too bad both are like a million miles away from where i live now.

I'm going to second this one. A Maggie Moo's opened near us a couple years ago. A year later, a Coldstone opened across the street. The Coldstone is already gone. Maggie lives on.

Never heard of the Maggie Moo's. If it's better than Coldstone, I'm sure it's damn good.

It's actually very similar. Same concept, same add-ins. I just like the ice cream better. Not that Coldstone is anything to sneeze at.

Agreed here.

There are actually several places i like better than Coldstone, but I mentioned Maggie Moo's because it has the same "gimmick", but the ice cream is just plain better... and I think it's cheaper...

Too bad i moved away from the only MM I knew where it was so it is 2-3 hours away... but I have other ice cream places I like better (Bruister's, Dairy Queen, maybe even Ben and Jerry's/Baskin Robbins)... living in a tourist town helps for ice cream joints ;)...

I gorged myself at Chick-Fil-A last Friday evening. Two regular chicken sandwiches (without the pickles) and a large waffle fries (dipped in tons of mayo-ketchup mix, of course).

Soooo damn good.

I don't see the love for Chick-Fil-a although, I am not a big chicken sandwhich kind of person....if it hasn't mooed or oinked at some point in time, I don't like it as a sandwhich...

Never heard of Maggie Moo's, but we have Coldstone Creamery and Marble Slab Creamery. Well, Marble Slab is in Florida at least - Coldstone's got 2 locations in Tallahassee.

I love Moe's. We also have Qdoba's, but I've never even been there.

I live 3 hours from the closest of my fave fast food joints, Taco John's. This place puts taco bell to shame...in fact i have them scouted out in missouri, illinois and iowa
i love taco john's and stop whenever i see one

I had Chick-Fil-a once in Orlando and just can't see the appeal... I wonder if its something you have to grow up with or if I just had a subpar experience (wouldn't be surprised as it was Orlando).

Sadly, Rags -- it's in Olathe at 119th Street in the same development with the Bass Pro Shops. Now you know why it's almost an hour from my house up by Liberty. Good thing I work out south.

I got marginally hooked on Chick-Fil-A in Springfield, but the real addiction came in college. They had a Chick-Fil-A on campus that accepted your student ID as a credit card and I gorged myself there regularly. I'd go on Saturday before they closed in the afternoon and get enough sandwiches to last the weekend.

Kcchief. you should seriously get out to Dave and busters sometime.. i was expecting bar and grill type food.. but the food was absolutely incredible for the money you pay..

15.99 for a meal that i'd expect to pay 30+ for.. and the portion was enough for a whole 2nd meal later

I can't tell you how crazy it drives me to see those Chick-Fil-A commercials on Big XII regional telecasts and not have one here.

You can have ours. I have one 3 minutes from the house. I've eaten there maybe twice. Not impressed.
