I told you I walked through the gates at the Rose Bowl last night with no ticket?
Well, at half time anyway.

They were on the other side. I was down near the Texas end zone. Chaps and thighs, I saw.

So you're saying I should expect to see a thread from Subby about how he got through the gates wearing barely any clothes?

I'd say the chances of that versus a thread with pictures of Pumpy are relatively equal.

Proof or not, must have been a fun experience to be at a prominent sports event without a ticket. :D

Yeah, I'm not sure "fun" begins to describe it.

Of the 145 pictures on the Austin paper's website of the game, not one of them was of the hotties in jeans and chaps. But they did have a few pics of the USC Song Girls. WTF?

I had a chance to go, at a high price, with a bunch of friends who chartered a plane and everything, but my wife is pregnant, and has been feeling a little bad the past 2 weeks, so it was a no brainer I had to stay at home. But Jeff called me from the game and said it was out of this world to be at that game.
It is great you got to go to that game.

Didn't see it but I heard USA Today had a big picture of White on the front page with the headline of Texas winning. If they were going with a USC pic I would have gone with a song girl.

Here's the only pic I've found so far of the Texas Pom at the Rose Bowl:

It was sort of like the perfect storm. Everything came together at once.
I had been convinced by some friends to go out to the Rose Bowl with them to try to scalp a ticket. One friend had pulled the trigger with a ticket broker Wednesday morning, and he assured me the price was dropping and that a single would be easy to find at the game (he had particular demands--four together in the Texas section).
Well, we get to the Rose Bowl, and there were absolutely no tickets there. None. I've never seen anything like it. There must have been 20 buyers for ever seller. Nevertheless, we tailgate and have a good time (the Rose Bowl is such a great venue for this 75% of the parking is on Brookside Golf Course, and it sets up the perfect tailgate), meeting Harold Reynolds and Sean Salisbury along the way. My buddies go in the game and I'm left to either find a ticket or watch the game on the outside.
I actually have moderate success finding scalpers and flipped a ticket for a quick profit at one point, but the market was way too tight, and I resigned myself to watching at a tailgate. I did just that for the first half.
At the half, I decided to scope out the scene around the gates, figuring I might get lucky and find a ticket taker who wouldn't mind having his palm greased.
As I walked up to one of the gates, a guy came storming out of the Rose Bowl and completely cold cocked a guy standing on the outside. A couple of other people jumped in and it was bordering on a full brawl. Well, all of the security guards and ticket takers rushed to break up the melee. In doing so, they left the gate wide open. I literally walked right in. Perfect storm.
I found my buddies, who happened to be sitting on the last row before the walk way that splits the Bowl. It was easy for me to scoot in with them and enjoy the rest of the game. It was insane. Such electricity. I really can't describe it. We were on the five yard line in the Texas end zone (but the USC bench side), so Reggie Bush did his flip score right in front of us. It was pure bedlam when Vince scored the go ahead TD. That's really the only way to describe it.
