So I was discussing with my wife about how to make scrambled eggs. She said she always uses water when scrambling the egg before you put it in the pan, and I use milk. I thought milk made it fluffy, what the hell does water do? Am I the only one that either uses milk or nothing when scrambling eggs? I have never heard of anyone using water, and she said she does it because her friends mom makes them that way.

I know its an odd question, but I figured I would start a poll to see how everyone makes their scrambled eggs.

Anybody use water? I have never heard of it, and consider this another notch in my wifes "insanity belt".

My wife said that cooking shows always recommend water. It makes then more fluffy. Sounds backwards to me, but...

milk for me.

What makes them fluffy is air bubbles incorporated during the scrambling process. Want them fluffier, beat them a bit longer.

I don't eat eggs b/c they are chicken abortions, but when I make eggs for Anthony or radii I use milk.

I've heard water or even club soda adds volume to the eggs.

I just prefer the flavor adding milk gives instead of just plain water...

I can't stand scrambled eggs. Fried, boiled, poached, all good. Scrambled...just nasty...unless, of course, you fold them with a little ham, cheese, and onion. :)

Yeah, I'm not a scrambled fan. I make them more like omlettes than just scrambled.

a little bit of cheese. Mmmm, makes me want some now.

Milk is the generally preferred ingredient. The fat in milk helps the water separate the protein strands (resulting in fluffier eggs).

I like my chicken abortions on bread with femented milk (cheese) and strips of pig muscle and fat (bacon).

mmmm, good!

Milk. Made them for dinner tonight even.

Chicken abortions? I thought commercial eggs were unfertilized (http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/zoo00/zoo00308.htm). I can think of other reasons to protest eggs because of some not-so-nice treatment of hens in the process...but chicken abortions?

Dola - do you think cows are from outer space, or that milk is really cow puss?

I have cracked open more than a couple eggs and found small specks of blood in them...I know my view is completely illogical and wrong, but when I think of eating an egg all I can think of is that it's an aborted chicken. I don't mind using them in cooking/baking, but I hate touching them and having that nasty stuff on my fingers...

And no, I don't think cows are from outer space, but I can't just drink a glass of milk unless I have cookies or cake to have with it. It tastes disgusting and leaves a weird taste and film in my mouth.

I don't think your opinion is wrong, I just don't share it. This is probably due to a fact that where I was raised hunting is really common, and I'm about as anti-vegetarian as you can get. I'm cool with people who choose not to eat meat, like yourself. My problem is with people and groups like PETA who force their opinions down others throat.

I eat meat. I know, it doesn't make any sense that eggs gross me out but eating animal muscle doesn't...but I won't touch raw meat either. There is something about it that disgusts me - to the point that I get nauseous from the sight of it. Like I said, I know it doesn't make sense, but whenever I see people eating eggs, or see raw eggs, I think "chicken abortion". It's just one of my weird quirks I guess.

Never heard of that before. I use milk and tons of cheddar cheese :D

Eh. Mayo makes me sick, even though I like everything that is used to make mayo. And I don't even have the "chicken abortion" mental image to fall back on, so my quirk is just as bad. ;)

Just to clarify, Eggs are not chicken abortions, to be abortions one must have a fetus or at least an embreo(sp?) and since eggs sold in grocery stores have never been fertilized you can't quite have either one, so, no abortions. just chicken goo.

And I can really only eat eggs scrambled or as part of an omelet. Another other way makes me gag. I can't stand non-scrambled eggs.

How can people not like eggs? Especially people like CW that suck disgusting fumes from burning weeds into their lungs on a regular basis. Seems...............silly to say the least.

Depends. If I eat them with a corn tortilla, I make them with milk. A little sweeter and fluffier. If I'm having bacon and toast, no milk, just salt.

I've always had my eggs made the same way since I was a kid:

Beat the yolk, salt and pepper with them.

Fry up some chopped onions, along with diced tomatoes, and then add the eggs.

Comes out a orange/light yellow with onions and tomato skins.

Then I add more salt because I'm ridiculous, I suppose.

alright. I used milk, then my wife said, no, you should use water. Didn't work. I've tried both and you have to go with milk.

Growing up, my mother used water. After I got married, my wife was making scrambled eggs and put milk in it. I was...like..."what are you doing?". When I told her my mother had used water, she thought I was teasing her. When I asked my mother why she used water, she told me because we didn't have enough money to be wasting milk on scrambled eggs back then.

I use either nothing or milk. My mother-in-law uses water, and it results in small pieces of disgusting scrambled eggs. I think she puts way too much in, though. I think her excuse is that water helps to make few eggs feed more people. I'm not sure what she means, but I don't like her eggs. Maybe what she means is that if you've got 10 people to feed with 6 eggs, only 5 will eat the eggs she prepares, so the 6 eggs end up being enough.
