My girlfriend and I enjoy playing RTS games. She recently moved in with me and we now have computers side by side. Yesterday, we played the first Empire Earth together over the LAN without a hitch. We were able to play the computer. Anyway, we plan on taking our game to play others on the Internet. But today, I tried and load up my game and everything has gone haywire. We can not join the same LAN game. Our versions do not match.
What I did was start the game up and then give her the CD. Well, we entered the same CD key on both versions since we are in the same household. I think that is what caused my game to change versions.
Is there a workable solution around this? Is what I am doing considered ethical? Would it be best just to break down and buy another copy of all the games we want to play together?
