Story (http://www.nba.com/news/google_060106.html)

Don't know if this has been posted...

I love the idea. Unfortunately, I get the "We're sorry, but this video is not available in your country" message  .

Anyone tried this?

just proxy in through a US connection. That won't work, because I can't connect either. The Lucy clips, however, are quite cool.

I rarely watch NBA games live, why would I want to watch them on memorex?

Oh good, Google has developed its own multimedia player. There's not enough of those out there already.

I wish they'd put early NFL games on (like from the '30s through '60s). I'd love to watch those.

The NFL would make a killing if it put its library online and charged a per-game rate. There are a lot of classic games that I would pay ~$5.00 to see.

oooh! they also have episodes of Deep Space Nine for $1.99!

if only I didn't already own the entire series on DVD

It would give them huge money and even more fans.

I agree too. I like the NBA, but I'd absolutely love to see NFL games with this kind of service.

BTW, I don't understand why this service is not available to me at the moment. I mean, wouldn't not-US people, who don't have the NBA live on TV, be the biggest audience in this case???

...I hope I got the grammar right...

...I hope I got the grammar right...not sure if you were joking or not, but your grammar was better than 99% of the American posters on the board.

and as for the rest of your post...I agree. Seems very weird to me. Especially because of the major US leagues the NBA is unarguably the one with the biggest overseas market.

That would be awesome.

It seems weird indeed. I noticed that they're not allowing me to buy TV-series either, but I guess it's because those shows are going to be broadcasted in Sweden at some point.

iTunes does some version of this "blocking"-thing as well. The Swedish iTunes doesn't have the same content as the US-version. I find this very annoying because we basically have 50% of the US-contents and then some more Swedish/European stuff.. I have no idea why they're regionalizing these things.. I mean.. the Internet is supposed to be global dammit.. :(

No no, I was serious :). The fact is that I pretty much learned English listening and reading stuff, so I'm not sure of my grammar sometimes. I'm glad I self-learned well...

Damn, exactly my thoughts Coder!!! I got an iPod for Christmas, and started used iTunes and the Music Store. Very good service, I like that a lot but ... I can't purchase music from the US. They said you gotta have a credit card billed in the US (and a US address, I think). WTF is that??? Can't we pay with Paypal or something??? I mean, they are losing money. The Italian store, which started like 1 year ago, has half the stuff of the US one. Like you said, isn't the internet supposed to eliminate these kinds of restrictions??? It just doesn't make sense to me. Bah...

They are seriously missing revenue here. People will pay for/trade tapes all the time, the NFL already has all the games in their library, they just need to get it out there.

IIRC, They have every TV broadcast since '70 in their library and probably some from earlier.
