I eat nothing with the word "man" in the name. Now snatchwich, that's a differnet story.

And yeah, if you're making sloppy joe (no "man" in the name, but the "joe" is still questionable) at least cook it up yourself. You can then control for yourself that critical balance with the brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar and lemon juice.

I've been wanting to do that half-sandwich thing with the american cheese slice on top. Pizza burgers I think they were called. MMMmmmm.

THREAD JACK:

I see you have a fine Emerson microwave. Ever notice how Emerson electronics are all fucked up in some odd manner? For example, I had an Emerson TV that tuned to letters, rather than numbers, and I lived in an apartment that had an Emerson dryer whose dial only offered choices between 'more dry' and 'less dry' (why would I ever choose less dry?), and an Emerson microwave with a control panel that entirely neglected increments of time in favor of food types ("Just put it on 'chicken'!").

MJ4H
05-23-2007, 08:42 PM
hahah. That is just a random picture I found on the interweb. That is not my microwave.

stevew
05-23-2007, 08:44 PM
That's cause Emerson is junk made by the Funai corporation. While you may buy something by them and it will be just fine, their amount of variance in quality is pretty extreme per unit. They also make the Sylvania TV's, and we always have problems with people returning them at work cause they are fucked up.

There are distinct differences. Yes Vinegar is prominent in tobasco, but really tobasco is about pepper flavor. Other Louisiana hot sauce is all about the VINEGAR. Think real buffalo wing vinager flavor.

Did you know that in northern NJ, a sloppy joe is not what it is in the rest of the country?

I was at a diner on my most recent trip up to Vernon, NJ and heard a woman at a table nearby ask what was on their sloppy joe. There I was, thinking that it was a stupid question, but the waitress got the cook from the kitchen and he said it was: 3 slices of bread, turkey and roast beef, thousand island dressing, and cole slaw (which still sounds to me a lot like a version of a ruben).

Sure enough,
In parts of northern New Jersey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey), sloppy joe refers to a completely different type of sandwich.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloppy_joe#cite_note-2) There are a handful of variations depending on the deli, but it usually includes one or more types of sliced deli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deli) meat, such as turkey, ham, corned beef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corned_beef), roast beef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roast_beef), or sliced beef tongue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beef_tongue), along with coleslaw (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleslaw) and Russian dressing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_dressing), served on rye bread (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rye_bread). Sometimes they are made in a "foot-long" variety and sliced individually.

I need something with taste good enough to feed an army and yet gentle enough to please a group of schoolchildren; something made with lean beef, and a spicy yet sweet flavor, you come home hungry, from a long night of work, find it all alone in the fridge in a microwaveable container, pop it in the microwave and add a dash of Sweet Baby Ray's, and eat it

So God made a Manwich.
