Any team going to take a gamble next season?
Any team care about him?
Maybe stick to doing commercials? Couldn't go wrong there, or could he?
CFL maybe? Arena League? Just kidding. :D

As much of a douchebag he can be at times, I would absolutely love to see him come to the Lions on a short-term contract.

80% chance he plays in Dallas and Keyshawn gets cut
15% chance he plays in Tampa Bay
5% chance he plays in Oakland
Minnesota is obviously out since his old Off/Co took the job there.

Millen could meet Drew R's demands. Give him a lifetime contract and misery in Detroit.
I don't regard Detroit as a bad city by the way, just the team itself and people running the Lions.

This guy can be a cancer on a team. Who ever gives him a contract will have some protections in it in regards to his behavior/attitude. The contract will most likely be a short one unless the team is crazy. I know one thing: New England is one team he will not be going to!

TB, young, strong armed passer.
Will get the ball to receivers,(when not pressured)

I still think Dallas makes the most sense. Bill Parcells never met a WR with issues that he didn't like, and if he STFU and played he'd give them a scary deep passing game.
Washington and Tampa Bay also seem to make sense... gotta think he sounds like a guy Snyder would love to sign, and I can also see Gruden taking a shot at calming him down.

See, I don't think Dallas makes much sense. It is unlikely that Dallas will get rid of either Terry Glenn or Keyshawn, unless Keyshawn plays hardball and demands a new contract, in which case it becomes a completely different situation.
But Dallas has a lot of money invested in those two, and I don't see them investing a lot more in a wide receiver unless it's someone young. Parcells has shown a definite commitment to getting young players in there the past couple of years. The one area he hasn't done that much to is wide receiver. It seems like youth would be a priority there.
As for guys with issues, Keyshawn and Glenn have been choir boys in Dallas. No problems whatsoever. But Owens is a different animal. Parcells can tolerate arrogance, I think, but not conduct that is disrespectful to him (see Antonio Bryant).
Add to all that the stuff with Terrell Owens and the star, and I just don't think Jerry Jones would take on a PR nightmare like that. He likely won't rule it out, but I'd say the odds of him going to Dallas are not high at all.

I don't think Oakland will happen after hearing Randy Moss talk a month or two ago about it on ESPN, and (if I read between the lines correctly) he would demand a trade if Oakland brought in T.O.

If Pro Bowl Jeff Garcia and Pro Bowl Donovan McNabb aren't a good enough quarterback, what quarterbacks would he be willing to play with? Last I looked, Dallas and Tampa Bay, the mostly mentioned teams in this thread, are not teams with a top5 quarterback in the NFL. From the Owens perspective, was does that leave? Indianapolis, who are loaded at WR? New England, who had Dillon work there, but isn't Owens' complaining in another dimention? Cincinnati, who just lost their QB to a terrible knee injury? Which other quarterback could be top5ish in the NFL?

Where's Eric Zeier when you need him?
Tampa Bay will not pick up T. Owens.
Not after the Gruden/KJ experience. And Joey Galloway has been a pleasant surprise and Michael Clayton shows lots of promise when healthy.
However, I hope to God that TO signs with the Cowboys because my wife just said she would never root for the Cowboys again if that happened.
Oh please, oh please, oh please let TO sign with the Cowboys. :)

Doesn't Seattle have a good bit of cap room?Depends on what the increase is in the cap this year. As it is, I'm sure they'll make getting Alexander and Hutchinson a priority which would take up a pretty good chunk of change.
That and I just can't see them bringing T.O. in after their locker room cleanup last offseason and the results they've had since.

Maybe I am just hoping he does not go to the Dolphins but I really don't see it. First off, I am pretty sure the Eagles are going to want a high draft pick for him and I believe that Saban wants to keep those picks. Second, I can't see them bringing TO in with a young QB who he may be able to intimidate. Third, I don't think Miami would change the offense from one based on the running game to one that is more passing based. Remember, TO wants the ball thrown to him regularly and I really don't see that happening in Miami. I don't believe he is deperate enough to just go anywhere. He still wants to go somewhere he believes will allow him to put up the biggest numbers.
Now I will say that Saban may believe that this is a opportunity to make Owens his Corey Dillon and bring him in.

Since the words "Arena League" were mentioned, I've popped into this thread. Terrell Owens would be an absolute monster in the AFL. He'd break AFL records in ways that I can't even imagine. He would redefine the Offensive Specialist position.

If the Eagles trade him (which I think it's much more likely he gets cut before July) I seriously doubt they get more than a 3rd.
No one is going to give up a high pick for a guy who is a cancer, in the midst of saying he wants a new contract, and is 32 yrs old. That just isn't going to happen.

I think Kansas City's interest will be determined based on who the offensive coordinator will be. I'm assuming Al Saunders is gone. There are different names bouncing around on who will take over in Kansas City. If it's somebody who has a connection to Owens or just someone who think they can control him, I can see the Chiefs making a play. Kansas City would be a great place for Owens. The media would love him and the only way you can get in trouble in Kansas City is by breaking the law.

I think the only reason a team would trade for T.O is just for exclusive negotiation rights, otherwise they'd just let him fall to the free market and snag him there.
There's no way they get much for him in a trade unless there are 2 or 3 teams really trying to get him and they go back and forth offering 6th, 5th, 4th picks.. ect.

I currently work with Chad Lewis' mom, and we were talking about the T.O. situation, and she was relaying some things Chad has stated about T.O.
Chad truly liked him, and he said T.O. was by far the hardest working athlete he has ever met or played with. He also stated that T.O. was charismatic in the locker room, and was a true leader.
In regards to everything that happened, the tema knew what happened was business, but really wished it wouldn't have happened the way it did.
I know T.O. is appearing as a cancer as he has singlehandedly destroyed two teams, but I think he will end up in Dallas, and do well, only if Dallas has a veteran QB that can handle someone like T.O.

He would make a great replacement for Rod Smith, but if you're 28 or whatever he is, you're not going to change unless you experience something life altering. My preference would be a contract that sends him into the Peace Corps for two years first.

Much of the TO drama this season was done becasue it was the only way to get out of his contract. He wasn't going to get another dime out of the Eagles. They had just signed him to a 7 year contract. No way were they going to re-negotiate after they just gave him a signing bonus. The only way to get more money was to act like a total ass and get cut so he could go sign a new deal with another team and get more signing bonus money. He and Drew played the system perfectly and it's going to work aparently. He will get cut and then sign with another team. He will get a bunch of up-front money and Drew will get his cut. I'm not saying his beahavour was acceptable but it's easy to see why he did it. TO is simply about the money. He acted up in SF and one could say he wanted to play for a winner. He then went to Baltimore where he could not stay because Ray Lewis would have kicked his ass or shot him before the season was over. So he got shipped off to a winning team and he still acted up to get paid. He will likely go to Dallas who has a ton of cap room. They will cut Keyshawn and keep Glenn. Parcells is gone after next season so they will make the big move of bringing in TO which might put them over the top for next season. Flozell and LA will both be retained and they will make some sort of run at Seattle's Hutchinson but so will Houston. He won't be cheap and Seattle will franchise him anyway. Don't be surprised to see Houston trade out of that #1 pick to 6 or 7 and take OT D`Brickashaw Ferguson from UVA btw.

It will be interesting to see if anyone winds up giving him a long term deal with the major signing bonus he feels he deserves. I think the list of teams that may do that is pretty short. Maybe Washington or Dallas but I dont even think they would do it.
If this becomes a situation where he takes a one year deal to improve his image to strike another deal the following year the list of teams he could go to will grow.
I can't imagine any team actually trading for him since they know the Eagles will have to cut him and he wants his deal redone anyway. Let him hit a real free agent market and see what his value is.

I once predicted that TO is a pawn for Drew Rosenhaus. The chances of TO making more money than he was projected to make in Philadelphia and beyond is slim to none.
However, the chances of his agent Drew Rosenhaus making more than what he was getting paid (nothing) is the true cash cow in this show.
As a Jets fan, I hope not. He's certainly an upgrade talent-wise (although almost every team could say the same), but they certainly don't need the drama after the 05-06 injury debacle and losing Edwards. Ironically, the Jets are interviewing Tice on Monday. That would be a "fun" pairing. Tice would be pinching himself and saying, "I swear I've been in this soap opera before."
NY Jets, maybe?

Year 2 and 3 each have a hefty roster bonus due at the start of free agency, so it's essentially a series of three seperate one-year deals. Also there are apparently very strict disciplinary clauses in the contract, at least according to Jerry Jones.

And that's why Drew Rosenhaus gets hired by players. I am stunned that he got Owens his money back and more. I never believed in a million years that could have been possible.
Owens, who was released by the Eagles on Tuesday, will earn a bonus of $5 million for this season and a base salary of $5 million, for total compensation of $10 million. Under his contract with the Eagles, Owens would have earned $8.52 million for 2006.
It should be noted that Owens lost about $4 million in 2005, between the base salary that he forfeited during his suspension and the prorated signing bonus money the Eagles withheld because they claimed he was in default on his contract.
Under the terms of the seven-year, $49 million contract that Owens signed with Philadelphia after being traded to the Eagles in 2004, he would have earned $20.27 million for the 2006-2008 seasons. So there is the potential, should the contract with the Cowboys remain intact, for Owens to make nearly $5 million more in Dallas than he would have with the Eagles.
So, Rosenhaus convinced Owens to pitch a fit, lose $4 million in salary in 2005 and lose a contract that would have paid him $8.52 million in 2006 and paid agent Rosenhaus nothing since he didn't negotiate the contract in exchange for a three-year contract that will pay him $10 million this year and probably get him release next year. If Dallas keeps him through this contract, he will net $730,000 more than the Philadelphia deal.
The most impressive thing about Rosenhaus is that he has convinced Owens and other NFL players that he is working in their best interest and not his. I have no doubt his advice and management cost Owens more than $730,000 in endorsement deals and respect.
I'm quite surprised at the contract structure.
I am stunned. For all the talk Owens and Rosenhaus made about getting paid, Owens has essentially signed a one-year contract for $10 million. That's a lot of money, but it's not as much guaranteed money as Moss and Harrison got in their last contracts.
Rosenhaus clearly seems to think that getting Owens a series of one-year deals with guaranteed bonus money is preferrable to any other option. My rudimentary math shows that Dallas will have a $6.67 million cap hit this year -- not unreasonable if Owens actually performs. They'll take a $3.33 million hit next year to release him next year. If they keep him for for 2007, it will be with a $8.17 million cap number with a cut number of $3.8 million for 2008. The 2008 cap number would be $10.17 million
Dallas could keep Owens in 2007 if they want, but I have a feeling that neither the Cowboys or Owens anticipate that he will play under this contract next year. Rosenhaus probably thinks he can get $10 million from the Cowboys this year, then hold up somebody else -- cough Redskins cough -- next year for another $10 million, one-year deal. To me, it's a huge gamble at his age that Owens is taking that he can perform and stay healthy to keep getting a new contract.
Regardless, congratulations to Drew on getting his commission. He's the only winner in this deal.

Ugh, I am a full-time Eagle-hater, but I may just have to root for them when they play the Cowboys. I have to laugh, however, about all those T.O. jerseys in the Philadelphia area right now.

Hmmm, somehow I see images of Owens taunting the Cowboys by dancing on the mid-field logo in a red jersey.

And that's why Drew Rosenhaus gets hired by players. I am stunned that he got Owens his money back and more. I never believed in a million years that could have been possible.
More? He would have made about 12 million dollars (including roster bonus) the up coming season with the Eagles, opposed to the 10 million (inclusing bonuses) that he pockets this season from the Brokeback Cowboys. Add the 4 games pay that he lost last season, and the potential major marketing dollars that he could have cashed in on after his Super Bowl performance and I don't see where the idea that he is making more comes from.

Drew Rosenhaus is on ESPN now, and he is saying Terrell just signed the best contract a WR has ever signed. What kind of BS is he trying to sell? Disgusting, I would have had to change the channel if they didn't cut him off and end the interview.

This is sad. As a Packer fan I built up some decent size hate for the Cowboys when the Packers couldn'tget past them in the early 90's. Then it started to become indifference when they sucked. And I actually did not mind them too much when Parcells took over, because I like Parcells.
I am now back to thinking Jones is a horible owner, and I have lost some respect for Parcells in a way. Atleast he didn't show up to the press conference.

Jones is not a horrible owner. Owens is one of the best WRs in the game. From a football standpoint, this is an upgrade. From a PR standpoint? Cowboys fans will get over his antics and start to love him. If he gets them into the playoffs, forget it. He's a hero.
Lots of Cowboys fans will talk a big game now, but they will be back. This town is a winners paradise. Fans love a winner, at any cost.

No one doubts that, everything you said happened year one with the Eagles. What happens next year if he pulls an Owens.

I am just pissed because of the money he gave Owens. I don't think it needed to be so much. Maybe 7 others teams really were after the guy but I don't buy it. I understand Owens is pretty much the best WR in the league, I wouldn't argue that.
I think it is bad PR, and even if Parcells did sign off on this I can't think he really likes it. This is the guy who last year said he wanted character guys, not characters. Owens is nothing but a character. If Parcells is gone after this year then I guess he just doesn't care, it's a one shot and done for him.
Also, I remember Keyshawn and Bledsoe going at it last year. As much as I think Owens will be a very good boy this year, I can see them getting into it at some point. And as was pointed out to me on the radio a bit ago, several of the locker room leaders are now gone from this team, I wonder how that will impact things?
