<!--endclickprintexclude--> (CNN) -- A new audiotaped message purported to be from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden warned Americans that plans for attacks in the United States were already under way.

"We have seen explosions in many European countries. As for similar operations taking place in America, it's only a question of time. They are under way, and you will hear about them soon," said the message, which was aired on Arabic-language network Al-Jazeera Thursday.

CNN could not immediately confirm that the voice in the poor-quality audiotape was that of bin Laden.

Is this the 34th or 35th tape of this nature? Media loves it though.

He's clearly wrong. We've spent over four years and untold billions of dollars getting safer. The current administration was rehired specifically to stop this man and his threats. Clearly we have nothing to worry about.

He's starting to remind me of a guy who doesn't want to propose to his girlfriend, but wants her to think he will. "It's only a question of time, honey. Really, it's inevitable. It will happen some day."

Then when it does happen, she has already left him for a bodybuilder or something.

I found this quote amusing:

"We do not mind offering you a long-term truce with fair conditions that we adhere to," he said. "We are a nation that God has forbidden to lie and cheat. So both sides can enjoy security and stability under this truce so we can build Iraq and Afghanistan, which have been destroyed in this war. There is no shame in this solution, which prevents the wasting of billions of dollars that have gone to those with influence and merchants of war in America."

Just like the GNR album everyone has been waiting since 96' for... Like Axl said "you will see it, but I don't know if soon is the word."

Ha! Shows how much he knows - the Bush Administration has been saying for ages that Iraq is the central front of the War on Terrar. Osama's got to get with the program here.

Not to jack the thread, but have you heard Axl sing? I am not sure that you want to hear a new GNR album.

I can just imagine GWB, similar to the Conan O'Brien segments.

*GWB staring into screen*

"Squint please."

*Squints*

(in Clint Eastwood voice) "Bring it on!"

I have, but not many others have since 94'.. Couple of small shows many of which were cancelled, MTV Video Awards, and RIR 3 are the only shows he has played since back in the day. No doubt his voice may have slipped a bit in age, but the guy can knows how to rock and I will take my chance with a band like GNR, over the majority of junk on the radio today.

Sorry, you lost me at CNN.com, SD. It's nothing personal, but to me CNN has lost its dignity a year or two ago.

Is any of those tapes ever gonna do something good to be spread around? I mean, does it help to think about what could happen? Why want these 'jorunalists' want to play along with the terrorists and help by feeding the fear? Shouldn't they forward to the authorities in stead?

I think the authorities are happy that these tapes are being played. No quicker way to get US citizens on the government's side.

I definitely think Al Qaeda leaders are scared. That last attack apparently took out some key people and they had no warning. They thought they were in a completely safe place.

Many of them have been running around like this for four years now, always looking over their shoulders. It's no way to live. Bin Ladin is trying desperately not to show weakness, but this message shows bravado and weariness. He loses support daily, as the only attacks he seems to be able to carry out target Muslims.

Personally, I think the only thing Bush has done right during his presidency is his reaction to 9/11. But don't take that as an endorsement of the war in Iraq, which is going to be his legacy, and a poor one at that.

I would say Osama was the heart of Soundgarden. While Matt Cameron was the best musician in the band, Osama wrote most of the great grooves we know and love.

I was going to say, if you read the transcript, Kerry and Osama say almost the same thing.

2) The authorities don't care. Bush gets 5 approval rating points every time this hits the airwaves.

President Bush also gains popularity everytime some left-wing nutjob blames him for everything from Hurricane Katrina to putting batteries in Osama Bin Laden's cassette recorder.

No one is saying he is. Hell, it was on CNN. There's just nothing to be gained by stopping it.

I sincerely hope you're take is right. If a major attack hits here within the next couple of years, we're going to be living in a police state with virtually no freedoms.
