I never saw this movie. A friend of mine let me borrow it and I just started watching. I'm to the point where the Waynes are shot.

Do I bother going forward? So far, the story seems a little corny. Not to mention, didn't the Joker kill Bruce's parents? ("Have you ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?")

I remember reading the comic when I was a kid. The person in the comic was a bit more sinister than the bum that shot them in the movie. I have believed since then, and from the 89 movie that the Joker killed them.

Is the movie gonna be more disappointment? Am I wrong?

thanks.

As to your question about the Joker and whether he killed Wayne's parents, I had thought the same thing, although I'm not a big comic book fan, so I don't know what the "real" history is there.

As to whether the movie will be a disappointment, I can honestly say that was one of those movies where I can't possibly understand how anyone can not enjoy it. I think it's probably the best comic book or comic book-style movie ever made.

This is a reset of the whole Batman movie mythos. All the previous movies "don't count." In the comics, as in the movie, it was basically a random bum who shot the Waynes outside the movie theater.

As the movie itself goes, probably the best 'blockbuster-type' movie of the year. It gets a little cliche at the ends, but Bale plays a great Batman/Wayne, and it's .00001% cheezy as the the last two before this.

I enjoyed it a lot. Your mileage may vary. Unless the next few hours of your life are critical, there's worse things you could be doing.

I thought it was very good. I'm not a Batman geek so I can't really comment on how it relates to the Batman canon, but taken on its own merits, it is an extremely well-done superhero movie.

One of Anthony's favorites so I've seen it about 25 times but still enjoy it...definitely worth watching.

Joe Chill killed Bruce Wayne's parents. That screwball Tim Burton mucked with the mythos and made Joker the killer.

for my money, I thought it was enjoyable, but rather overrated. some nice cinematography, but I thought the movie itself was kind of meh.

not as overrated as spider-man, for sure, and it's not like I was begging for my 2 hours back

100% agreed and if I could erase the other Batmans (Burtons, Clooney, Kilmer, Arnie, etc)from my memory, I would. I thought this one was the best Batman.

i kept watching. next 30 mins was tons better. wife came home and will finish it tonight.

i had to separate myself from the first 2. wasn't fair to the current movie to base my decisions from those. I thought Keaton was the cat's ass as the orig. Batman.

I don't think I would watch these in succession. It appears that this movie needs to be taken as its own.

Exactly. This movie does not exist in the same universe as the others. This is an entirely new take on Batman, and hte best to date in my opinion (although i didn't think the movie was amazing or anything).

Agreed, this is the best Batman movie here.

But I do hold a spot for Keaton as Batman.

i didn;t like it. i didn't get to finish it (i rented it On Demand from cable). i stopped watching after the part where Liam Neeson lit Bruce's mansion on fire. i didn't have it in me to watch the rest the next nite.

nice fighting, and i like that whole part of the story where he was like in Tibet or something studying with those ninjas. other than that....yawn.

finished watching it. arent' considered spoilers below. but just in case...

pretty damn good movie. as i and other guys here said, you need to separate this movie from the first 2 (which are the only 2 that I really acknowledge as being good Batman movies).

I didn't have a problem with the mansion being burned. The only issue for me was the katie holmes character knowing about Bruce's secret.

I thought that the movie was a strong comic-based movie. Good action, pretty decent acting and something you aren't rolling your eyes over too much.

Oh, the end, with Gordon and Batman...and the card. That seemed too much IF you are considering the 89 Batman.

I will buy this eventually. Thanks to everybody.
