Strange news story of the day over here:

A bottle nosed whale has been swimming around the Thames all day

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4633376.stm

Bizarre: pictures of it swimming around Westminster Bridge, past the House of Parliament...

Unfortunately as a salt-water creature, it needs to get back to the sea quickly or it will die. It has nearly beached a couple of times: people have been wading into the river (at least one guy in full business suit!) to shoo it away from the riverbanks to give it a chance.

The whale had seemed to turn round and head back towards the estuary, but its' progress has now been lost - it's strange but people are genuinely concerned about this whale, and, are properly worried that it might not make it. #1 news story all day, beating out grisly murders and Abu Hamza. Bizarre.

Doesn't the Whale have the right to die? Maybe somebody should call the ACLU to come to its aid and let the whale beach in peace. :)

This is obviously some elaborate protest by english dads who want the right to foxhunt.

Man - Fathers 4 Justice

Now disbanded, as a fringe element supposedly were planning to kidnap Tony Blair's youngest son to highlight their claims of being repsonsible fathers whose children were losing out by being kept from them...

Unsurprisingly the founder (who I should say does generally come across pretty well and was not involved in this plan at all) decided that things were getting out of hand, this was was not helping the cause, and said the group had brought the cause to the public's attention, and were ceasing stunts.

Bizarre - how can people think that kidnapping the PMs son will win them public and governmental sympathy  (although this was largely planned in the pub apparently, which could well explain a lot!)

Man, this whale story is sad ... it's really not looking good at all.
