I usually have 3 beers about 4-5 times a week.

Not as much as I used to... I'd say about once a month... maybe once every 2 months. I guess you can call me a "social drinker".

I would say I am somewhere around there as well. I tend to have at least 1-2 (usually 3) beers with dinner at night. That or wine. If I go wine, I split a bottle with Lady H_B. So, I would say 3 beers 4-5 nights, 2 beers the other. It's more rare than not that I don't have a drink at all.

Three or four. Go out usually about twice a week, drink in a night a week sometimes two.

I thought about not getting any beer tonight since I was out, but stopped by the store on the way home. I was like screw it, I'm not an alcoholic, I don't get plastered, and I had a crappy week.

That being said, my wife doesn't drink so I drink alone...usually while cruising the internet or playing games.

Tonight is the first night since 23rd Dec I've had any alchohol - generally though maybe once every couple of weeks.

Three years ago I quit my job and went travelling through Asia and Australia for 18 months (man, was it that long ago...) and I worked out that I had had a drink every night bar two for three months: not clever, but fun!

Yup, same here. Antmeister doesn't drink... at all! I'm the lone drinker in this household.

Haha, that kind of screechy voice would drive anyone to drink no? Especially when you hear it over and over, and over and...

Tell me if this wouldn't drive you to drink:

Zero per week. It's not that I don't "believe" in alcohol, it just doesn't interest me enough to do once a week. In fact, I don't even know how long it's been since I drank any alcohol. Maybe 3-4 months. Around there.

I share a bottle of wine with a special lady once in a while, and have the odd glass of scottish whisky in the evening before retiring. I haven't drunk to excess since I was a rowdy soldier-boy.

I used to drink myself into oblivion every night in college. Now I am married and working, so maybe 1-2 nights a week of social drinking. When I get together with my friends who are now scattered across the country (Chicago, Tampa, NC, NY), I regress back into my younger stages. Except now it takes 4 times the amount of time to get over the hangover.

I generally don't like to drink by myself. But I do have a beer or two about once a week.

I enjoy drinking, but I don't like drinking at home and I don't like my prospects of drinking and then driving home from a bar.

So, based primarily on enviroment, I don't have too many drinks.

However, after the week I had at work, I could really use a fucking cigarette....but stupid me quit a couple years ago.

"I don't believe in alcohol"?

What, so alcohol is synonymous with Santa Claus now? :D

I don't drink, but that's a personal choice. Has nothing to do with "believing in alcohol" or not, nor does it reflect upon the choices others make. I don't like the taste, I don't really think it's necessary in order for me to "have a good time," and I'm really not fond of the consequences that can accompany the loss of inihibition and control that overindulgence causes.

Glass of wine at a wedding reception? Okay, fine. Casual drinking? Not for me, thanks.

I drink beer like once or twice per week when we go out for dinner. I also drink a glass of wine everyday when eating. About getting drunk... like once every 2 months or less, and never totally drunk, at least since i was 20 years old or so.

Apart from the daily glass of wine (a pleasure to me to drink slowly a good wine), i'm a social drinking guy, only drink beer or cocktails when i go out with friends, way less now with my wife being pregnant, but never alone at home.

I go drinking twice a week. But that's about normal in Japan, where people never entertain at home and drinking is also part of working life.

Usually just on the weekend now, either once or twice. Once in a blue moon, on a weekday. As mentioned earlier by someone earlier in the thread though, when I get together with some of my college friends who don't live around the area, all bets are off.

Eh... usually 3-4 times a week, some days 2-3 beers, others 6-8. Strictly beer though.

Sorry, I was trying to come up with something pseudo-funny before people started complaining about there being no poll.

The few drinks I had were all disgusting. People tell me you have to learn to drink wine and beer. I don't need the alcohol to be spontaneous, be able to party or do weird things (okay, that last part came out wrong). Bottom line is that I'd rather not drug myself and keep control over my body.

Watch me tomorrow in a crowd of 40K people as being the only one not drinking beer at a big national music event supported by and named after Amstel, the other beer brand from the Heineken factory.

Couple beers in the evening and/or for lunch, that's about it.

Maybe once every couple of months I'll go out and engage in serious drinking, but I pretty much stick to kicking back, having a beer, and that's that.

I almost never drink anymore, a choice I made when we had our second son. I mean, I didn't trust myself to handle him properly with 2-3 beers when he was a newborn (had a huge fear of either falling with him in my arms or dropping him) and I never started drinking again after that. I drink a little on special occasions but that's about it now...

I think you draw the line too black and white. Most people drink because it is a social lubricant and helps people relax and open up. Wine at dinner parties is a necessity. That's different to me than trying to be the one with the lampshade on your head.

Only a couple times a year if I go to Vegas or to a conference. Just don't need to at home.

What he said. When I drink (nowadays -- college was a different story), I rarely drink until extreme inebriation. 3, maybe 4 drinks gets me feeling a little tipsy, and it's usually in a safe environment -- my own house, or a bar where I know there is someone to drive afterwards.

That's pretty much where I am. My nights of serious drinking are getting few and far between. It's for the best, as my body handles excess with less and less grace and ease.

It's not that I need to drink and I don't consider myself an alcoholic by any means. I just like it. A nice cold beer is quite tasty and relaxing. Lady H_B makes a lot of Indian food and it goes well with beer. If we have pizza or pasta, red wine is the drink of choice. I rarely drink enough to feel tipsy or buzzed or feel any ill effects the next day.

Maybe I do, but I see how addictive it works to others. Bottom line, I don't mind others to drink, it's just that I doubt it will do me personally good if I do drink something I don't like and which's effects I'm not too confident about I'd like to want those on myself.

FWIW, I had a beer tonight as I was with a group of about 15 to 20 at a big music event sponsor by a beer brand (as I wrote in my previous post). I didn't like it at all, but everybody liked to see non-beer drinking MIJB take one and it definatly boosted the atmosphere for the rest of the night. A sacrifice for the good of the group? Well, I didn't see it that way until after it happened. ;)

maybe once or twice a month.

I'm kind of like Frogman - I don't really like to drink much in front of my kids. the odd glass of wine with dinner is pretty much it. a beer is even more rare.

I'm kind of a weird case. I don't really "like" alchohol. I do like the buzz I get, but as a result of my heavy indulgency in my youth and my 250 lb girth, I have to drink a LOT to get a decent buzz going, which kind of shoots down the whole social drinking thing.

I don't recover very well either - even a couple of beers can give me a pretty reasonable hangover.

that being said, I am going to TIE ONE ON this Saturday, and, I do expect to have some rather crazy pics to share when it's over.
