Bethesda, maker of the Elder Scrolls games, are going to start making Star Trek games! (Star Trek: Legacy and Star Trek: Tactical Assault (handheld game) were announced today)

The license was announced yesterday, actually, but yeah. Kinda interesting news.

(As long as Bethesda don't let themselves get shanghaied by the license the way they did Pirates of the Caribbean, at least.)

Seadogs blows Sid Meier's Pirates! (the new one) out of the water.

Bethesda kicks ass.

Sea Dogs was awesome. Sea Dogs 2 was completely and utterly ruined by the PotC license. What's more, Microsoft's alleged "Quality Control" process for vetting Xbox games and making sure they're ready to go has never failed half so miserably as it did with that one.

Pirates of the Caribbean was a good game made unplayable on the PC by horribly ported controls out of the console version.

Bethesda is publishing this games, not developing them.

One of them is being worked on by the well-respected developers behind Master of Orion 3.

So uh yeah...I wouldn't get too excited yet.

Plus it's Star Trek, so more of a reason to not get excited. :)

I would love to see a MoO done in the Star Trek universe. Or Star Wars for that matter. These games should have been made ten years ago. You would think someone somewhere would put two and two together.

I think Birth of the Federation was a MoO type game in the Star Trek universe. Never played it, but heard it was pretty good.

Rebellion was sort of a MoO Star Wars game.

Trust me, the console version wasn't any less unplayable.

I feel your pain...though I think the original reference was a bit sarcastic, that game was the biggest disapointment ever for me. MOO2 has got to be one of my top five favorite games of all time. MOO3 was just awful...

I had BOTF and it was very good indeed. Really cool building the Federation up from pre-Kirk era all the way to TNG movie era and taking on the Cardassians/Borg etc. Playing as the Ferengi and hoarding cash was cool too. :)
