At one point, I was typing around 27 wpm, but when writing stuff for the bog, I think I got up between 35-40 when in deep thought and busted a law of physics regarding head movement.

Have any of you used Dragon or IBM ViaVoice?

What works better with the web?I played around with Dragon, and it seemed to work ok, but it has been several years. However, I wanted to pass something along from my wife.

She was having major neck pains when she made any head movement (to the point where she couldn't walk without severe pain). Nothing showed up in x-rays, and muscle relaxers weren't helping. What finally cured her (in one day) was an alternate cold-then-hot treatment:

5 minutes of cold (she used a bag of frozen peas--molds well to the neck)
10 minutes of heat (large sock filled with rice then microwaved, again for molding two the neck..there are also store-bought microwavable heat packs that mold)
5 minutes of cold (a second bag of frozen peas, because they defrost...)
40 minutes off

She did this every hour on the hour for a day, refreezing the peas each time, and she was a ton better very quickly.

I had elbow surgery a month ago and used the built in XP speech recognition the first couple of weeks. It worked every bit as good as the last time I installed Dragon Speak for someone (about 2 years ago) that is, it gets about 85-90% correct.

considering the cost of dragon speak is usually at least $200 and the built in XP deal is 0 - I would try the XP deal first.

Now I did buy an semi-expensive plantronics headset for about $150.

Dragon is a good system and I use it for my work often. It saves me a lot of time!

I found a program called the Say-Now. It is a basic voice recognition program. into type this but as we speak. however toit isbreaking cheap andbillowsBeatty same job on in turning in IE speech into text.
