View Full Version : What do you wash with?

My wife messes with me because I wash with just a bar of soap in the shower. She says that it's gross because there's no way I can clean myself as well as I could with a washcloth, poof, loofa, or whatever. I told her that real men don't use all of that other crap.
So what do you use?

Soap (Dove, I can't use the regular deodorant soaps because they kill my skin). That is all.

Just soap...nothing fancy. On a further note, how of you use a bar of soap rather than shampoo to wash your hair? I do that and the g/f bitches constantly about it.

Neutrogena makes a great product, their clarifying soap in a little scrubby pouch, so you are using regular soap (which I know is important to men) but you get some exfoliation at the same time...not to feminine either!

That is so wrong! Soap will dry out your hair and make it icky...definitely invest in a bottle of shampoo!!!
I just use a razor to scrape the crud off.

No way I'd use soap on my hair. I've got a brillo pad as it is, I can't imagine how bad it would be with soap.

That one commercial, I think it's for TAG, the one where the teen girl's mom is coming on to the boyfriend who has come to pick her up for a date, is completely inappropriate for TV. Appropriate for the child molester thread, of course, but that's another story altogether. I don't know why, but that commercial shocked the hell out of me when I first saw it.

The girlfriend keeps trying to change my shower habits. I need to use a puff because my washcloth doesn't do a good enough job. I need to use body wash instead of soap because it's better for my skin. Blah blah blah blah blah. I'm a man, I don't care about that shit. Give me some Irish Spring and I'm a happy camper...

It messed up my hair something fierce if I do it. And I'm hat guy, you know that person always wearing a baseball hat, so it's not like my hair is that super important for looks. Go out and spend $2 on a giant bottle of Slimer-green colored generic guy shampoo and you'll be just fine. Not to say I haven't done the soap-to-wash-hair thing in a pinch.

It's because unless you are using an exfoliating soap, all the dead skin cells are just staying on your body instead of being sloughed off...won't really hurt your skin, but it won't look/feel as good as it would if you exfoliated every now and then (once or twice a week).

I'd be the opposite and more likely to do the "shampoo-to-wash-body" thing than the other way around. Like whenever I do some sports and have to take a shower outside the house, I won't carry soap, only shampoo...
And I'm also a baseball hat guy, at least on the weekends and soap in hair will actually mess them up more if you wear a hat for a long period...

Umm...I thought soap and a WASHCLOTH was the minimum. Washing with your hands does not scrub the dead skin off of your body. This may be a cultural thing or something but Ive never heard of anyone that didnt use a washcloth, and most girls I know use a loofa and bodywash. Different....
