So...i went to the Raptors game today....i've been to 3 or 4 games....and i gotta say...i love the show....the game is almost secondary...the whole game there is something going on...music...dancing....tons of babes...

Hockey is my favorite live sporting event because it is fast paced..but i have to tell you...for over all package...NBA is the way to go..non stop excitment.

Please refrain from making positive comments about Professional basketball or else this board will frown upon thee.

Seriously though, I'm a season ticket holder for the Chicago Bulls. Ok, laugh all you want. Finished? Good.

Anyways, the Bulls this year seem to be a very solid home team at 15-7, and if we could only win on the road we'd be a legitimate playoff contender. I really enjoy going to each game because as you said above, even when there's no ball being played there is always something going on. They keep you entertained from the beginning to the end.

Long Live the NBA!

Why oh why is the board down on the NBA?

And i'm not really pimping the NBA here...more the style of entertainment they provide BESIDES the actual game.

How much time ya got? In a nutshell because it's full of overhyped, ill-manned, obnoxious, overpayed, criminals with absolutely no humility or respect for the game. :p

I used to be a big NBA fan, now I don't even watch. I think the game is overrun with the worst types of athletes that you only see bits and pieces of in the other sports. And, it seems like ticket prices dictate that they are only made to be purchased by corporations (hockey is getting close to this as well). Plus, I've always been suspicious of the referee-ing, even when I liked the game, and now that I don't care about the game anymore, it's just one more reason for me to find the game even more irrelevant.

I will say, though, not having been to a real game since Spud Webb played for Atlanta (my mom - "Why are they letting a little kid shoot with the team?"), I've heard very positive things about the live atmosphere from several sources. My parents, neither of whom are basketball fans at all, got free tickets from work and went to a Mavericks game and had a blast. Not so much from the game itself, but everything going on around them. They admitted that if they didn't have to fork out so much money to attend a game, they might actually go more often! Yay, NBA!

I just can't get into basketball. I may watch 5-6 college games a year, and maybe a NBA half. The game just doesn't interest me.

Hockey is great, if you watch it live, but since the tickets are so expensive I do not get the oppertunity. Hockey has to be by far the worse television sport there is. I never can see where the puck is, and the camera never gives you an idea where the rest of the team is. Just completely unwatchable.

How do you explain Team Neuqua in the fantasy league? :)

Meany :(

Unfortunetly after the first couple weeks, I just simply didn't have enough time to devote to the Yahoo league.

Although I'm not THAT bad as a GM. Just ask those in the RWBL and JBL.

The NBA is easily my least favorite of the four major pro sports. I pay attention to my Rockets, whenver I can catch them on tv, and maybe a couple of playoff games (i.e. last years Kings-Lakers series) but that's about it.

that's probably the issue in itself. when the entertainment starts to overshadow the game, then there's a problem. english football is great because nothing happens before the game, nothing happens at half time (maybe 2 9 year old kids take penalties against the 5th string keeper or something) and nothing gets in the way. the game happens, everyone moans at the ref, and then everyone goes home again. perfect.

and in the lower divisions it's even better. not a whiff of crass commercialisation or putrid hype. it's all back to basics, the essence of sports.
