After 16 years in the Insurance business I was laid off after a buyout. As the industry is in a state of turmoil ATM I am contemplating a change in professions. One thing I am looking at is an opportunity to accept a position as a loan officer in the Mortgage industry. The market here in Phoenix has stagnated a bit after a huge 2 year boom but it is still strong enough to generate a good living IMO.
I don't have a sales background (My insurance experience is in management on the claims end) but I don't see that as an obstacle as I am comfortable interacting with others. Though my personality is a bit more laid back than you would associate with a salesman, I see this profession as more soft sell than some others so that doesn't bother me either.
If anyone has experience in this field I would be interested in any feedback, good or bad you could give me.
Thanks in advance
