Someone in another thread told me it probably would not be a good time to turn that one on..........unless you are a Baylor fan :D

Hahah... yes sarcastic I was. Missouri is getting their arses handed to them.

Wow, UNC is really getting some favorable calls in this one. Good thing or they'd really be getting killed.

Quentin Thomas is freaking terrible. If they hadn't cut loose JamesOn Curry last year they would have been undefeated.

Quentin Thomas is bad, but Byron Sanders is the worst Tar Heel I've seen in my 28 years of watching the Tar Heels. I'm happy with how UNC has played. They're not good enough to keep it close all game though.

Yup, I'm extremely happy with a 40-35 halftime score. Close enough that a run to start the 2nd half could put a scare into Duke and make it close the rest of the way. But I'm just not counting on it.

Especially shooting only 34%

I like the score going in to the half--it looked like it could turn in to a blowout early on. Not expecting a win, but hopefully it will stay close.

He is terrible also, but wasn't much more than an afterthought in his class with May/Felton/McCants. With JamesOn Curry being let go and JR Smith going to the NBA, Quentin Thomas was actually the 2nd best player in his class, and the only one that's left.

well holy shit. UNC doesn't really look tired, I don't think they've worn themselves out coming back, which is usually the fear in situations like this.

I've seen projections mentioning mid first round, but he has worked his ass off to become a more complete player in the last two years, I can see him working his way up if he keeps doing this.

UNC has not done well consistantly in these close game situations so far this year, their youth has really shone through a few times... wonder which tar heel team shows up for this last two minutes.

No way Redick is going to make an impact in the NBA. He'll have a long career because he's a great shooter and there's always a spot somewhere on the roster for a guy like that, but he's got nothing more in his game that will make him a valuable NBA player.

I don't understand his fans getting upset about people honestly assessing him as nothing but a middling NBA player. All he will be in the NBA is a standstill shooter. A great one, but that does not change the fact that he'll be a one-dimensional bench player. College and the NBA are very different. There is a reason that Duke players almost always underperform in the NBA, and that's the motion offense Duke runs. It is almost completely the opposite of what NBA offenses are like. In the NBA, they will never run plays with multiple screens designed to have Reddick pop out and get an open 3, not once. He will be required to get his own shot, something he's not very good at. He'd have to handle the ball more as a guard, something he is terrible at (by NBA, not college, standards).

He's a great, great, college player. He'll be a disappointing pro(if you are expecting star, or even starter). Its the Duke way.

But, he was great again last night, in a game that reminded me of why I love college basketball (Syracuse has been notably failing to do that this year).

Far be it for me to defend the Lesser Satan, but you do realize that a few of the clutch threes he buried last night were created by him off the dribble? That last one that clinched it in particular, he faked going inside, pulled out, and drained the three.

Thanks a lot. Now I feel terribly unclean for having given credit to Redick. Ugh. ;)

Sucks that we lost, but at least both teams played hard.

After having followed the New Orleans Saints for the last season, it is just nice to see a team not quit after the first few plays.

In some ways, I prefer a hard fought loss to a sloppy win. At least I can go to bed feeling good about the team after a hard fought loss.

Noone hates the guy more than me (unless its my wife or unborn daughter, who kicked every time my wife said "I f*cking hate Redick" last night). It pains me to call him a great college player, but he is.

Getting your own shot by taking one step in college is not the same as doing it in the NBA. He lacks the footspeed to do that. He can probably do so against backups, but against a starting NBA shooting guard, not so much. As a starter he'd regularly score 30 against the Knicks, but go 0-15 and have two or three shots block against most teams in the league. I do think he'll play in the NBA, but in an off the bench scorer type role.

For the record, let me state that I hate Duke, Coach K, and J.J. Reddick, but man is Reddick impressive to watch. I really think he will be able to be a major contributor in the NBA. The dude can flat out shoot from anywhere. It doesn't matter whether he has to take it off the bounce, with a hand in his face or with two guys guarding him. I think he will be a good pro, and that people would have a different perception of him if his skin color was different and did not play for Duke. He has an extremely quick release and has a solid mid range game as well as three point range. He is also 6'6 which allows him to shoot over shooter defenders. Granted in the NBA he will not have as much of a height advantage but all the guy needs is one pause by a defender and he drains the shot. I am pretty sure he will be able to manage between 13-17 points per game in the NBA. The guy will hit at least three threes per game and he makes his free throws. I personally don't think Duke is very good this year but J.J. will carry them through the tournament. I am really hoping UConn does not have to play them in the tourney because he is so dangerous.

I like to compare J.J. Redick to Steve Smith both have perceived limitations (quickness for Redick and size for Steve Smith) but both carry their teams even when the defense is solely focused on stopping them.
